    Default Clottey / Quintana

I was looking over the selections for the prediction contest and I was surprised that so many people are picking Quintana to beat Cotto and how few are picking Clottey to beat Margarito.

The majority of us think Margarito is an overhyped braggart, am I right? So why is he the favorite against Clottey? It seems that if someone was going to pick an "upset" for this weekend Clottey over Margie would be the obvious choice. Cotto has more going for him than Margarito does, correct?
I realize that Quintana exposed Joel Julio but I don't see Cotto having much difficulty with him. At least not enough to pick Quintana as my upset.

Is Quintana so much better than Clottey? Is that the idea?

    i always pick against Cotto

lost a furtune in the process

never rated Cotto but with eveyfight i watch of his i see things i like and i'm prob slowly becoming a fan if im honest

but i think this is a V hard hard night for Cotto and if you look deep into Quintana record like i did when i made the countdown page hes stopped alot of the no names faster than other rated fighters and add that to moving up im weight for Cotto i just smell an upset... i also liked what i saw on the short click smash posted on Quintana yesterday. its a 50/50 fight this one and to be honest Cotto deserves credit for taking it

and if im wrong on cotto yet again.. it will just mean hes won me over alittle more

I did think about going for a Clotty upset also but his best win is against Richard Gutierrez which told me nothing because if you look at Gutierrez record it was well padded so couldn't bring myself to pick the upset on that

I think miguel is a simple soul - but his vulnerability & power makes for an exciting blend.

I am gutted this fight is not on UK tv

    Yeah, Saddo just said it.

Cotto's moving up, and against a pretty slick southpaw with power, who's not afraid.
He's bigger than Cotto right now. Quintana is also a farmboy who's married I believe,
which means he already lives the hard life and seems very devoted.

Will Cotto get caught at least once in the fight? Will he still have shaky legs or will the move up in weight help his legs stablize. He's going to have to respect Quintana's power.

I agree with you BG !

I have Clottey winning. Maragrito does good when he has his way with folks. but he isn’t so hot when his pressed and forced to back up , I believe the Clottey has what it take to do that very thing. . Clottey comes to play , He hits like a truck and has a high determination factor.. I like his chances ! should be a spectacular fight regardless of who wins. Props to Margarito for taking on Clottey.

Must admit I have never seen Clottey fight so can't comment on his ability first hand but I have seen an awful lot of Margarito and he is so strong for the weight I think he'll just overwhelm Clottey.

Quintana is fullblown welterweight, Cotto is just moving up and that could spell trouble. Plus I saw Quintana completely dominate Joel Julio last time out and derail one bandwagon. I think he can derail another on Saturday.

Tough fight for me to pick a winner... I love Cotto the kid is a gem.... I give him credit for taking on Quintana for 1st fight at 147.. Anyone who thinks Cotto is gonna walk through him and have an early nite aint looking at the complete picture....

Cotto has power and pure Boxing ability.... Then again so does Quintana and He's a Southpaw to boot...

Total Pick em fight for me

First off, I think the two fights on Showtime will be great. Something tells me the Clottey-Margarito fight will be controversial. Both fighters do not back up and Clottey has a history of using his head. I see Margarito getting cut or something. We'll see. Can't wait to see both!!
