Looks like Ruiz is the favourite amongst forum members!!!!
I'm surprised nobody has voted for Bruno - he was an emabarrasing 'champion'.

If John Ruiz and Frank Bruno where heavyweight champs, then so where:
Francesco Damiani
Tommy Morrison
Michael Bentt
Herbie Hide
Henry Akinwande
They too had alphabet trinkets
I try not to recognise the WBO belt; it's bad enough with the other 4 belts.Originally Posted by lance Uppercut

Who was the worst Heavyweight Champion ever?
Think my list would be
1. Nikolay Valuev
2. Leon Spinks
3. Jim Braddock
4. James Buster Douglas
5. Frank Bruno
6. Shannon Briggs
7. Pinklon Thomas
8. Corrie Sanders
9. Mike Weaver
10. Michael Dokes
I think its little unfair to list Mike Weaver but maybe thats just me because i like Weaver, he gave Larry Holmes one hell of a fight and was on the verge of stopping him at one point, Dokes was a skilled fighter with quick hand speed but drug problems wasted his talent, And Bruno was ahead in all of his losses except the Tyson fight but fair point and thats pretty solid list. I think some other fighters are more deserving on that list like John Tate, Primo Carnera, Gerrie Coetzee, Michael Bentt, John Ruiz, etc.

#1 John Ruiz <=====
Joe Hipp and Bruce Seldon
I don't consider most of these guys to be heavyweight champions. Valuev, Bruno, Briggs, Thomas, Sanders, Weaver, Dokes... owning a sanctioning body belt doesn't make you a legit champion.
Spinks, Douglas... those guys were legit champs because they won the title by beating the undisputed and linear champions.
I say the worst legit heavyweight champ ever is Michael Moorer. Won the belt by beating Holyfield, who looked absolutely awful and looked on the verge of having a heart attack in the ring. Then Moorer loses the title in his first defense to a 45 year old Foreman.

Ruiz
Roy Jones Jr(look who he beat)
What are looking at here. Are we talking he worst skill wise or the worst fight desicions. I mean if that were the case you would have to name the "Lost Generation" of heavyweight's like Mike Weaver,Gerrie Coetzee,Greg Page and my man Witherspoon etc.As for some of the people on the list here I see Jim Braddock now that there is a movie out you really had to pay attention to it.Max Baer was considered to be a very dangerous fighter and the way he went in there and unlike what the movie says he infought the hell out of Baer.Baer had no idea how to handle someone putting their head on his chest and fighting in close. In my mind Jim Braddock was a genius in that fight. The other is Mike Weaver remember the shot heard round the world in boxing to me and many was the right hand he knocked Tate out cold with.Weaver also beat Gerrie Coetzee very underated fighter in my mind, James Tillis, also Carl the truth Williams who was considered very dangerous.

It is hard to go by all the ABC champions...rather opens the field up a bit too much...but some that come to mind are...In no particular order
Ingmar Johnassen- Had his glory moment when he beat Patterson, hos only other real accomplishments were over a young Cooper...His chin was made of Fine China...A good punch is all he had on him
Jimmy Braddock- He was a sentimental favorite and still is today but as champion he never even defended the title
Leon Spinks- He should actually be forst on the list, he upset Ali, an old Ali that many question his heart in the fight...Other then that the only think Leon is known for is a big gap in his teeth and being the "Brother" of Michael
Gerrie Coetzee-....
.....
....It's OK thats what everyone does when his name is mentioned...He beat Leon Spinks, Scott LeDoux and was a whipping post for the rest...His shining moment came when he upset Dokes...He was starched by Page in his first defense
Francesco Damiani-......No you are not confused and the guy above was COETZEE.....I did not post the same name twice...Though they fall into the same catagory....Won the WBO title when it was unknown....defended it once against a hometown guy in Italy then was starched by Mercer for the belt
Buster Douglas- He had a great night against a shit version of Tyson, the gift on the count, and whole lot of momentum going for him that night...THEN...well there was no and then...Evander beat him like a drunk in-law he gained 300lbs went into a sugar coma and can barely speak of the night due to a swollen tounge but he had that one night
Honorable mentions...Henry Akinwande, Tommy Morrison, Michael Bentt
