I'm sure Gatti breaks his hand often,Cotto hurt his against Paulie etc etc yet these guys still carried on fighting with full heart.
You can say that a guy with more heart would have continued to throw the left more--that's fine. But the point isn't about Clottey as much as it's about Margarito. He was getting dominated until Clottey hurt himself. Maybe Clottey didn't tolerate the injury as well as some would have; but without the injury he would have continued to dominate Margarito. Margarito didn't show anything to convince me otherwise, anyway. Clottey was hitting harder (even after hurting his hand), was literally twice as fast, and had much better defense and timing. If Margarito's next two fights are really going to be Williams and then Cotto--there's no way he retains his alphabet strap.
I'm going to go out on a limb and say even had Clottey not had hand problems Margarito would still have won the fight. Yes he lost the first four rounds and yes he was getting hit, but that is Margarito's style at the end of the day. Clottey gave a steller performance, especially in the first third of the fight but I felt Margarito was the stronger of the two coming down the stretch.

Clottey looked exhausted at the end and that wasn't all due to his hand. It's even possible that had he been more offensive and thrown both hands he could have got caught and knocked out by Margarito.
