If the Old Pretty Boy took on
Corrales, Hernandez, Chavez, then Castillo
Then I like the old Pretty Boy. I mean, that kind of schedule rivals the greats!
Yet these past three years and more, have been lackluster in competition. So if that is
the NEW Mayweather, then I don't like this version, based on competition. Also, note
that it may be his competition lately that makes him look better as of now.
For Mayweather to make me shutup about his competition, he needs to fight Ricky Hatton,
Antonio Margarito, ... or any challenging fight.*
And those fights are fantastic for boxing, other than the Sharmba's, Brussels, blah blah.
Mayweather's 30 next year. I didn't realise the age factor, until it was Paul Malignaggi that said Mayweather
is going to get long in the tooth soon.
By the time Sugar Ray Leonard was 31, he fought Hagler, Hearns, Benitez, Duran, and Duran again.
At 28, he fought them all, minus Hagler.
There is NO WAY Mayweather can compete with that schedule anymore.
Mayweather has a lot of catching up to do, if he wants to challenge Ray Leonard's record.
He already has the talent. Why waste it on Telefutura level fighters. I can see why he fought
Gatti, there was a lot of money involved. Was it Castillo's close fight, that was a rude awakening to
go for easy money fights rather than rough money fights?
But Mayweather has wasted his "all-time-great" talent on low-level competition for the past 3 years.
Mayweather and Bob Arum openly say Floyd is better than Ray Leonard, he (Floyd) needs to prove it.
* Judah, "loser to 9 loss Baldo" doesn't count,
despite my pick as of now. (Pick, which may change) There are a whole slew of reasons I have why
Judah is an easy option for Mayweather, but what the hell, Floyd fans won't listen.
