Default Is Amir Khan a future P4P contender?????

Just thought id get peoples opinions of one of Britains up and coming youngsters. Making his tenth outing this weekend it has now been confirmed Amir khans fight will be for a Title (if you can call it that). So what does this forum think? does khan have what it takes to make a dent in the light-welter division and possibly be a p4p contender?

At the moment I still think that he has an awful lot to prove, with much of his pro career not being against a good caliber of opponents. I think he needs to look at a British title fight early next year, instead of chasing this International fight.

Far to premature to say either way.

For me he has looked as goo in his first 8 fights as Mayweather and De La Hoya did in theirs but I don't know if the opposition is nearly as good.

I mean most of his opponents have good winning records, but they don't seem up to much.

De La Hoya fought was pushed along far quicker though and Mayweather won a world title in 18 fights

I expect Khan to get his title shot after about 30 fights. but thats Frank Warran for you.

He;s being overhyped and it's far too early to talk about P4P. Let's see how he does tonight first.

For sure he's a rising star but it's hard to tell what level he's at. None of his opponents have been of any real quality or have been up and comers themselves.

we all want to see him against a higher grade of fighter, but then there’s no point in rushing him along to lose against someone who he would of beaten with more experience.

I hope and would imagine that this title will bring better opponents. The guy he's fighting it for though is of no higher quality than any of his previous opponents so expect it to last little if no more than 2 rounds.

he wants to win a world tittle at LIGHT WEIGHT in the next couple of years and his opponents have steadily been getting better. but i think all his hype doesnt do him any good and adds pressure. i also think that he can be a bit too quick for his own good and buy goin in the ring and just letting his hands go he isn't learning much. he throws to quickly sometimes and doesnt allow himself time to think about what he is doing. but a lot of potential and at this point in his career FW is doing a very good job.

Don't think he's anywhere near 10 rounds with a decent fighter at all,and after this he may just have to fight one or two in 2007.
The wheels could come off i tell ya!
Look at the way he struggled with Laszlo Komjathi over 6 rounds 3 fights ago.
If that was a 10 rounder he'd have lost that, also he's wide open to an uppercut when he throws jabs to the body and sooner or later he'll get clipped.
Then we'll discover who Amir Khan really is,and let's not forget he has been down before

Personally i wish he stayed amature until he was about 21, i think warren showed him to much money and he rushed out of it. right now he 'looks' like a future P4P, but time will tell as he fights better classes of fighters...

BTW, what is this IBF 'intercontinental' title hes fighting for now? so many damn titles now of the main ones, starting to lose track.

Waaaaaaayyyyyy!! to soon to start talking about P4P right now and also matching him up.... IMO, I don't like his stands if you can call it stands. He almost completely doing the 'splits' his feet are too far apart, I think hes got talent & ability to accomplish a World title but he still has some road to cover....

The only way he would have lost that fight was if he got knocked out. Only the referee was judging that night and he gave EVERY round to Khan

Bizarrely he even gave him the round where Khan dropped his hands and he caught him flush. Shit judging really, dont get me wrong Amir won but it should have been 4 -2 or therabouts.

Maybe warren knows something that we don't, about amir's chin. Not stickin him in with any sort of puncher. He has a lot of potential and superb hand speed, decent power etc. We'll see. Fingers crossed.

Depends on how his defense fairs with the big boys.....I'd like to see him and JC Jr do well in the division
