that was the whole concept of the movie thought wasn't it. it was supposed to be the champion of the world giving an average fighter the chance of a life time. rocky was a journey man who became a contender because america was supposed to be the land of opportunity. thats the idea of the film, its an underdog story.
sly stallone got the idea when he say ali fight a bloke called chuck wepner (or somethin like that). he was a huge underdog journe man who went the distance (i think) with ali who at the time was the man.

This is how it went: ali played games with him because wepner moved like a drunken parkinson's patient from round 1. Wepner knocked ali down in round 8 because he caught ali off-balance and you could see ali get an evil look in his eyes. Ali's becomes serious and knocks the bum out with less than 15 seconds left to go in round 15.

wasnt only that though he wasnt really taking it serious before look at training he was doing in that place where mickey lost his rag and said *lets go back to the old gym and get some sweat and blood going* or something like that i think he still would of lost anyway clubber was too strong
