    Default jogging and jump roping

    hey
does jump roping help on stamina as much as jogging will do? I know jump roping helps out on a lot more things as well, like muscle building.

If i were to stop jogging for a month, and start jump roping every day and then one month later I get on the treadmeal, could I go the same distance before if not farther?

    Thanks
could someone post the advantages for jogging and jump roping, ive been wanting to find the difference between to two for a while.

Ive always done skipping more than jogging and it changed everything about my fitness in a matter of weeks.

Id say do no more than 20 minutes a day, but i dont think you need to be doing it everyday unless your training for a professional fight.

And those treadmills ain't good for you so i hear, especially for your joints.

Its and interesting point though, maybe ill start jogging and compare the two.

there are both excellent cardio, but i like skipping cause it helps with cordination, timing and footwork......i do 3min rds of intense skipping with 60 secs rest in between rds..but ofcourse as we get fitter u can move up to 4 min rds with 30 sec break...but make sure u mix it up and dont skip in the same spot, try some doubles and criss crosses and concentrate on foot work!

....now i no pro by enymeans, but have a go at what ive suggested, its an awsome work gets the heart rate pumping...if u dont now how to skip, just watch a video on utube of a pro and try to emulate them..actually ill post a clip from rossboxing, this guys pretty good with a rope

Skipping for boxing far outweigths joging. It works and cordinnates the muscles so much better, and gives a more related posture while doing it
Pain lasts a only a minute, but the memory will last forever....

if u want to burn fat, skipping is good but go for a run is probably better for fat burning, try skipping for 3 minutes,i garantee you'll be out of breath, compared to 3 minutes of running

For fat loss skipping is excellent.
Its better than long distance running, yet worst than sprints, which are also awesome for your boxing game.

does jump roping also tone up your whole body, arms legs shoulders ? does it also gain muscle mass? right now i can go for about 1m then i have to stop (i know i just started) but I love to go about 30 secs later for another round, but faster, I start to get a huge burn which i know is good.

Not good for muscle mass no. Endurance yes.
You wont build muscle mass skipping, its a weight loss exercise and muscular endurancew exercise. Pretty much impossible to add on weight while skipping, unless you're eating like 3000 calories a day.
