The only other fighters that come to mind is Pernell without the squatting style/legs apart OR 'Iron Boy' Calderon but with more crack! in his punches.

I see where your coming from, but as I said he fought the toughest people around at that time. In the Minimumweight class, I'll tell you what this is the best way to see what was going on back then go to Lopez record and trace back the belts he won, meaning who he won them from and who THEY won them from look at the people see if you recognize someone and look at their records...
