Default Majestic thoughts Vol. III: Litzau getting KTFO!!

First of all, it'll knock some of that cocky arrogance out of his head. Most people dont like that she-it! For me, I was happy he got KO'd just cause of that.

Also, what was he thinking?! He was up 4 rounds on all of the score cards but like Maj said he didnt listen to his corner. I think it's good he went out to put on an entertaining show, but after that first KD he shouldve gotten the message.

I think he'd beat Hernadez 9 out of 10 fights. This just happened to be the 1 of 10 he didn't. Though I enjoyed seeing him get KO'd, I'd think he'll come back better and smarter and would like to see him do so.

I used this quote because it was a very good point to the poster

And I agree, but you'd think people have learned by now after seeing what happened to Moorer against Foreman.

I know boxing fans want to see blood and guts and when you watch someone like Floyd Mayweather or another defensive fighter such as Chris Byrd or Cory Spinks fighting smart fights and trying to take as little punishment as possible, the "boxing fans" call them names and say they are cowardly or boring or running or etc

But if the boxer wins the fight its not right to say they are cowards or whatever just because you want to see them stand and trade as you saw last night its stupid to do so.

I see many people saying "Litzau was an idiot he was ahead in the fight why didn't he just coast?"

Maybe he was looking on these forums and people who bash people like Byrd and Mayweather saying they "run like chickens" or things like that.

I really hope this disbands all the 'true champs stay in and try to finish their opponent when they have a fight won' bullshat.

A real champ like G-Man right? A real champ like Moorer? Even a potential champ like Litzau have had their careers ruined fighting that way... maybe it's time to stop bashing the smart fighters.

Thanks Maj, cc back to you brother

I think Litzau's biggest problem was he didn't have respect for Hernadez. Even after that KD Hernadez scored on him in the first round. Though Litzau easily won most of the middle rounds, hernadez was still there to fight and wasn't showing signs of slowing down. I think that's where litzau's arrogance took the better of him. He failed to see that Hernadez was still there to fight and failed to listen to his corner. Just cause he carries more power than hernadez, doesnt mean hernadez can't KO him, which is exactly what happened.

I think a smart fighter knows WHEN to finish their opponent. Young guys like litzau who have power and know they have KO'd most of their opponents think they can KO an opponent at any given time. They fail to respect the fact that if they leave themselves open and abandon their skills that their opponent can KO them as well.

That's an interesting point you bring up about the whole "smart" fighter vs "true champs trying to finish their opponent". Truth is, a lot of people love the brutality of the sport. Most purists like to watch the skill and idiosyncrasies that make boxing what it is. While I never liked litzau cause how arrogant he was, but i give him respect for the fact that he was out there trying to finish. But rarely does a fighter get to the top level fighting that way.

Thats the great thing about boxing though. It's not just about physical abillity and training; it's about ring smarts. Some fighters understand that, others don't.

Another thing people should realize is that if one guy is moving around alot, its up to the other guy to cut that ring off. Look at Jeff Fenech, if you tried to run from him you'd usually end up running yourself into a corner. Many boxers seem to either not learn how to cut off the ring or forget to do it when it comes fight time.

Litzau just isn't a very good defensive fighter. He most likely never will be. And by the 8th round you could see he was getting tired. Not enough people have commented on that. I think partly Litzau wanted to go ahead and end it cause he knew he was starting to gas.

You don't have to run when you have a lead in a fight, you don't have to run to "box." But you also don't have to leave your chin way up in the air and your hands down. You can throw punches, try to close the show and at the same time not be totally irresponsible defensively. It doesn't have to be an either or type of thing.
