Is Roy Jones an all time great or just 1 of the best of his era???

Jones Jr is an all time great easily, When he was in his prime nobody could touch him. He just pisses me off here lately, Because he should go ahead an retire.

he should have said to Calzaghe "listen I know you're scared to fight outside your back garden so I'll come to you and I don't need the money so I'll fight you for a reasonable sum" and that would have exposed Calzaghe to.

I think jones is in the top 10 or 15 greatest fighters ever, the guy done stuff in the ring, against good figters that you wudn't thinkpossible or most fighter even dare try. If he had retired after beating ruiz more people would consider him an ATG! but 'coz he lost a few (way past his prime!) he goes down a notch or two. Jones could of stayed in a talentless devision like hopkins did, unify it and beat up lower weight class fighters like hopkins did and make 20 title defenses, but he was champion in 4 weights, unifiying LH beating almost the best at every weight.

ruiz was pretty highly regarded at the time jones fought him - borring annoying, hated what ever but he was fairly highly regarded as a fighter. Eubank, didn't he make it clear he didn't want to fight Jones? not certain about been, and although i wud of loved to see jones fight calzaghe, i don't think joe was a big enough name then. Hbo were gunna try build calzaghe up to fight jones at some point, but after a bad scrappy lookin fight with reid 'coz of a broken hand they ditch that idea, joens was already a god at Lh and a 3 weight champ when warren was trying to get the fight done, but calzaghe held the WBO belt and wasn't to big a name outside of europe so what reason really was there for joens to fight him? not as i all the us were talking about how great clzaghe was and how good a fight it would be.

Because Calzaghe's had the F****** nerve to ask for 6 million. That's why. Calzcrappy was actually stupid enough to believe he was Jones equal. And since he was the one traveling, he felt he deserved the higher pay. I'm surprised Jones didn't pull a rib cage muscle laughing at his dumb a**. And you knows it's true. That's why you never mention the reason why Jones declined it when they asked you. Calzaghe never wanted the Jones fight. He made a stupid, unreasonable offer just to say he made an offer. I couldn't understand how Preme was coming up with this stuff, and the guys coming on this forum and shouting abuse, when all were doing is stating opinion, I can't believe he had the nerve to to say he's gonna educate me, listen Preme, you may have posted alot more than me, but it's about quality not quantity, I've been on this forum alot longer than you and had the privillage to debate with the likes of Missy, BritKid and Purist to mention a few, these members had knowlege and I'd like to think I earned there respect aswell, but when you come on this well respected forum and start bad mouthing and talking rubbish, it doesn't bold well.

After reading Voilents post - I think it's safe to say that you are the one that's been well and trully EDUCATED!

He avoided or did not fight for what ever reason the likes of Benn,McClean or even Julian Jackson.

I am not saying that I think they would beat Jones,its just they all would have been big fights so why did he not seem keen to make them happen instead of fighting some of they guys he did.

you dont read to well? i said when jones beat ruiz he was FAIRLY highly regerd at HW, thats not saying hes the top, or even second or third best, but he was up ther ein the top 5 or so hence FAIRLY HIGHLY

the two links you posted, both from 06 after the lacy beat down? we was talking about jones 5 years ago, and when there was an offer made then for him to fight calzaghe in the us, not when jones was washed up and spoke about coming to fight calzaghe or woods in the UK. coz if i remeber right, and things do get twiste di admit, i know calzaghe said somehting about liking to fight jones after the lacy beat down, but i remeber Jones wsaying he would like the fight and would be willing to come to the UK to fight calzaghe or woods. Like i said before, i don't really blame jones fo rnot fightng calzaghe back then, $5mil was a good offer for jones, but the name and belt of calzaghe then wasn't anything much for Jones at that point.

I was never awared Jones was offered 5 million. I would like to see proof, if there is any
