It's unfortunate about these professionals because they were both ambushed. While Kemal wasn’t considered top tier due to his ring record, he had a fighter’s heart and spirit, like Jake LaMotta, Rafael Limon, Bobby Chacon, Arturo Gatti, Micky Ward, so in fact he was tops at his game. He did so well against Camacho Jr. in a recent sparring session it motivated him to resurrect his career. Kemal would always say, "I'm a real fighter, I have respect for myself as a fighter, when I come to fight I fight". He knocked out Fontaine Cabell, he gave Walter Wright (from the Contender) pure hell after taking the fight on short notice. That was his problem, taking fights on short notice. Kemal was well mannered and PROUD. More importantly he was very astute about the boxing game, so much so it affected his movement forward. As expressed in one article related to his death, he was hard on his luck. That described his situation perfectly. Nonetheless, he was confident he could rebound from the series of losses he suffered. Only such a gutsy and charismatic fighter could convince former heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman to escort him into the ring in his fight against crowd favorite Keenan Collins in Pennsylvania. Kemal went on to steal the heart of the crowd from the hometown favorite, Collins, with his ring antics. Kemal screamed... "I beat that guy". "They love me". He was right we did love him. His death is truly shocking and senseless.
