Because every DA in the nation wants a famous person in their book. Look at that Eagle County, Colorado DA. The girl was screwed by 5 other guys in the week she was supposedly raped by Kobe. Your telling me that she gave it up for Bill, Ted, Bob, Dante and Joe but not Kobe Bryant? Please.....

Only this guy has an open and shut case against a guy and no way is he not going to be known as the guy who put Iron Mike away.

Hey amat Tyson EARNED his time.....I look at it this way yeah SOME celebrities get screwed but then again some (OJ SIMPSON) get off the hook.

I see Tyson's case this way, had I done that....I'd be in jail....and therefore Tyson should too, end of discussion

I don't know the logistics of it and what type of trouble he's been in with the law recently, but I know not many judges send people to prison just for drug posession. He'll probably just get a program, parole, house arrest and all that good stuff because if I recall, outside of the rape thing the only trouble he's been in was jumping onto the hood of that guy's car and beating it. But those charges were dropped.

Having ANY amount of Cocaine is a felony.....Tyson had 3 baggies....that's not good

Also given Tyson's priors the JUDGE won't give him a good bail and the State won't go easy on him either because or in spite of his fame.

The rape case was handled horribly and I don't think that should count against him but his priors before that would.....beating his wife, beating up Mitch Green in public, beating up the gardener....he's a violent person and his drug use is evidence of self medication of his bipolar disorder.

funny thing is psych meds (some of them like ritalin or aderol) are basically speed only difference between them and Cocaine is that the FDA controls what goes into those meds whereas cocaine is whatever it is depending on where and who you get it from.....not that I would know.

Tyson deserves a fair trial but because of the media I am not sure he'll get one but he likes prison or so he has said before....least he can't lose anymore money in there

I always thought possession with the intent to sell was a felony no matter the amount. I wouldn't hold me to it though. I don't know but couldn't they get him on a 3 strikes type deal or something? Seems so senseless to put a man in prison over drug possession. And I'm not even a Tyson defender but damn it seems so pointless to imprison him. He came clean as an addict wouldn't it be better for him to sober up and try to do something with his life? Sadly that might be to much to expect at this point. Damn....

I agree with you.. . an addiction a person unable to control . unless the addict is on the street robbing people or causing harm to people to get that fix , they should be sent to rehab. Mike have serious depression and all kinds of psychological problems. I like house arrest.. the mutherfucker shouldn’t be driving around acting a fool ! He need to say home snap outta of it ! He is a good guy at heart.. he just wired different then most folks ! we all gotta little Mike Tyson in us if we look deep enough into our own souls !

Say what you want about oj, the glove didn't fit end of story. What is putting tyson in prison gonna fix? the man's 40 something already! If he was in his early-late twenties i could see the logic of "Maybe we can get him to turn his life around by giving him some time" but he's beyond middle aged and with his lifestyle he's probably beyond three quarter aged at this point.

That DA should be shot for even thinking of putting a National Hero like Tyson behind bars. Leave the man alone.

Not only is it pointless but think about if he does go to prison. Is he really gonna have a tough time there? You think the guy he's celled with is gonna think "Hey this guys only 5'10 and in his 40's im gonna make sure he understands that i'm the man around here". He'll probably be asked to sign autographs for the guards and no ones gonna mess with him because they know he's crazy.

I remember watching the trial and I'm sure at the end when the cameras were off I heard OJ say "Thanks Judge Lito you did a great job, just one last thing, can I have my glove back"
