Ali didn't fight anything like Robinson... He used way more footwork and head movement... his hands he held lower. Ali looked nothing like anybody who ever fought before or after him. Robinson also fought a bunch of guys who were tough, but they weren't good athletes and weren't that good of boxers.

I don't know if he said he based his style on Ray's or not but I do know that he himself said that..Ray was the Greatest fighter ever.........Now with that type of compliment coming from a guy like Ali...Thats what made me turn against Mayweather..IMO his over cock attitude...He had me as a fan untill the day he said "I am better than Sugar Ray Robinson Ever Was!!".....but that is another whole story

Didn't Ali himself say he based his style on SRR? I'm sure he did!!

Another thing i just thought up...

Ali was fairly well known for protecting his lead.. Which is fair..After so many rounds your gona be tired and if you can you can...

But mann ive just been watching robinson lamotta and no bull...Robinson's combinations looked like absolute MONEY in rounds 11 and 12 at least.. They were still very nice the whole way..
And those who have seen a fair bit of robinson will know that ali must have based himsself somewhat on ray..You can see it in them both..The footwork.. The way they pop the jab..
Ali is bound to become more famous for the great movement because he carried it to the heavyweight division though..
Thats why he was so effective..Who then..Or even now at heavyweight can move like those guys?
    Very few if any...

Aaron Pryor's dominance in his division and his consecutive wins by KO. His incredible blend of stamina, chin, speed, power and killer instinct. His wins over Alexis Arguello and Tommy Hearns in the amateurs. I could be way off base with my feelings but I wonder why Pryor is not mentioned among the greats in any of these discussions. Visiting the canvas early and coming back to win by KO in his fights against Cervantes, Johnson, and Montilla. His workrate in fights was unparalled imho.

He's definately a truely great fighter...
But first off..Obv Ray rob comes first...Second.. I say ali because of in ring skill..With it being in his hw division and his level of competition and what he did outside the ring and all the memerable moments..

But instead of arguing pryor into third...I know he was a very great fighter.. and i have actually seen him beat hearns in the amatuers ( thanks jimboogie lol )
Not that i believe that counts to his professional legacy..Who knows what would be the outcome in the professionals..All i know is that could have been one of the most legendary fights ever...
And i also know that tommy hearns was one of the most powerful welterweights i ever saw...
But all in all although aarons record is real pretty..he did face a few big names..But either not enough..
Or never that real career defining fight imo..
    Peace
