Is Roy Jones an all time great or just 1 of the best of his era???

I rate Jones as 1 of the best fighters ever its just I have nagging doughts about his chin.I asked the question before,what hard puncher has he ever faced?


He avoided or did not fight for what ever reason the likes of Benn,McClean or even Julian Jackson.

I am not saying that I think they would beat Jones,its just they all would have been big fights so why did he not seem keen to make them happen instead of fighting some of they guys he did.


I ask again,"WHAT PUNCHER HAS JONES EVER FACED"?

Bernard Hopkins, James "Lights Out" Toney, Richard "Destroyer" Hall, and John Ruiz actually has KO'd a few legit HW's before, like Fres Oquendo, so theres 4 right there.

Hopkins and Toney will go down as great boxers NOT PUNCHERS.

Yeah and Mike Tyson will go down as the man who bit that guy's ear off. But guess what, Toney, and damn sure Hopkins were both considered punchers when Jones faced them. Also Thomas Tate and Merqui Sosa, as I mentioned before, were both KO'd in 2 rounds by Jones, and both were defineately considered punchers. Hell James Toney recently said after the first Peter fight, that Sosa hit him harder than Sam Peter.

Thats true. But his devastating KO's over Michal Nunn, and Prince Charles Williams were not BullShit. They were legit.

Dont get me wrong,Toney can dig a bit but,you wont find him on any list of hardest punchers of the 90's.

He'd make the top 20 at least I imagine. They didn't call him "lights out" for nothing. Jones himself was a very hard puncher. And like I've said, he for sure took on some big punchers, that could crack. I don't know what you are lookin for man, a Tyson? A Tito? Benn? Other than them, he fought a lot of power punchers.

They did not call him lights outas you put it .He called himself lights out.Toney was a great boxer not a puncher.
