    Default interval training

There's a type of interval training which is very good for asthmatics. (also good training for non-asthmatics too).

It's different because instead of the usual time gap between sets you do breath gaps. So say if you were doing sets of fast punches for a minute, 60m sprints or resistance training. Breathe as much as you like during the set but only take 10 breaths in the recovery. It limits fast (panic) breathing because the slower you breathe, the longer the rest interval you have. Good for other physiological responses too. Add overload by shortening the amount of recovery breaths.

I'm not sure if this is new but I've been looking into it for a while now. If anyone's tried it or have any opinions on it - Scrap, Adam,Von etc - I'd like to hear them.

Yes Scrap, I was going to stick this on the asthmatic thread but thought I'd open the subject up a bit and didn't want to go too far off topic there. I like the idea of different brain hemisphere training through closing the nostrils. I'm looking at this from a blood O2/CO2 concentration angle, training the actual breathing response and the effect this has on the cardiovascular system.

Maybe we're talking about the same thing, I'm not sure. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Firstly thats a great technique for working vo2/max also for memorising breathing i think asthma is memory taught or genetic and can be erased Majors the man but hes gone back ,through memory psychodynamics gives our body the awareness our conciuos hasnt its pretty deep stuff but interesting. Theres a line of thought that says if the brain doesnt except, the body wont. On a level playing feild thats not to far of the mark

Its a matter of what we do and why we do it, and the subconciouses part has to do with it as regards an action to movement or outside influences make us react. Our safety avenues if you like and the impulses that trigger them, through the education we give them through the limbs and Oral perception has a major influence on how performance is improved. Theres a school of thought that says less pain more gain, Im in the middle just to be safe.

You're right Scrap, the brain has to fully accept what you're trying to do.Takes a lot of practice to initiate change and cause an effect at a subconscious level when training motor skills. But changing something that is automatic to us like our breathing responses especially when under stress is pretty challenging.

Anyone reading this, give the interval training mentioned above a go. I'd like some feedback......once you've recovered.

The body works all or nothing, and the subcocious has a lot to do with what we perceive the action to be and how the task should be undertaken. an athlete with a history of injury is less likely to perform to their optimun, where the uninjured one should.
