Someone's been suckered ....... £128 million for a (only) decent player on the downside of their career

They want a big name to kick of footy interest in the US and are obviously as shallow and celibrity obesessed as we are if they think that is the answer.

Still - great deal for him. Massive wage, easy league, nice lifestyle, little paparazzi.

Thats like LT going to euro league. Oh well even if he's on the downside of his career he'll be the best player over here for a long time.

He's earning twice that of Alex Rodriguez. I don't even think the MLS profits 1 million a week.

He's getting paid a lot of money to play somewhere where even if he's at his worst he will be the best player out there. This is the best deal ever made for an athlete.

Beckham will not be far and away the best player in the MLS, he's aging and he needs a supporting cast and excuse me if I don't believe he'll have one....now Clint Dempsey joined Fullham FC, he's a good ball player and on the rise.

If the MLS wanted to bring soccer to the US they would go out and get the Ronaldihno's and Wayne Rooney's and all those top teir players.

That will be hard to do as European and South American and even Latin American teams have histories of being great and they have HUGE fan bases.

This will be a little BLIP on the screen for American soccer....we need an American that is good enough to put on a show...Freddy Adu was a player we were supposed to watch grow up and conquer the world...and he didn't even get added to our World Cup roster....and it's shit like that that screws us up.

Lebron James didn't get left off the Olympic B-ball team because he was supposed to be the next big thing....he was given a chance to suceed and low and behold there he is King of the NBA

Becks WILL turn shit!! around here in the states..... Watch!!!

Update on this whole footy news:

FC Dallas are hopeful of signing Edgar Davids the Dutch midfielder who is surplus to requirements at Spurs.
"We are actually in negotiations with Edgar Davids - we've been speaking for a couple of weeks," said the club's manager Steve Morrow.
"We were excited to hear about his availability, so we spoke to his agents and have been told he is available."
"It appears Tottenham are willing to listen to offers," he told BBC London
"It's the transfer window in the United States now - and if a deal is going to happen it has to be done before the end of the month."
Davids joined Tottenham on a free transfer from Inter in August 2005.
    ----------------------------------------

I also heared that Zizou is thinking about coming out of retirement, Ronaldo and Alessandro Del Piero are in talks with MLS teams....

He had a pretty good World cup imo anyway and he still has a few years left in him plus the accuracy of his passing means he can just sit in midfield and spray the ball around
He'll Dominate every media outlet in the US and will be probably the most recognisable face in the US.
