    Default punchers are born

sometimes when i watch fnf teddy atlas will go into some babble about how "punchers are born, not made"

so what exactly are you born with that gives you the ability to hit harder than others?

I don't think that it's true at all. The large majority of punching power comes from proper technique.
In the old days some guys just naturally had good form and became heavy hitters.
Klitschko's and Lewis prove that a properly throw punch will do the job.

There are some guys tho' who seem to defy the logic. Big George was one of them who threw slow looking clubbing punches. But man did he have heavy hands!

Foreman always used to say how tito was born with incredible punching skill....

It can be learnt obviously..But it could be said your born with the ability to learn the perfect punch...
Now this doesnt mean that he knocks out anybody on the earth..Cos maybe someone else he fights is blessed with an iron chin....

But say tito was born with the ability to learn this..And he did all he could to do so...
Then it all just fits in like money..On the ball of his right foot..Pushes his entire weight in a great motion right up from his foot like a track runner..Comes right throough the body and turns and snaps his shots out and all this at a decent speed.. Like a killer left hook or something..

I thought everybody was born, not made?

If God wanted us to be vegetarians, why are animals made of meat ?

Hearns is also probably in the top three of hardest hitting welterweights i ever saw...

Like i said..I believe you can be born ..But with the ability to do so...
Perhaps he needed manny steward to teach him how to punch before he did so..?

Punchers are born Teddy is right on that...Actually when it comes to boxing facts Teddy is one of the most knowledgable guys out there...His personal opinions though

It is the ability to throw the power that he talks about...Yes some guys need to be taught how to throw to maximize the effect but the power is always there...Some guys even if they throw the punches perfect with every ounce of strength are not power hitters....EG. Paul Malignaggi..the guy can not break wind...Chris Byrd is another...it is physical...learning technique will just increase it

Yehh Paulie is a real arm puncher...
Some are fast like paulie..Another guy comes to mind is sugar shane..If shane wants power..He usually has to make himself a punch at a time kind of guy at these higher wieghts..But when he fights fast and puts combo's together he seems to just slap if you get me.. He throws em just for the sake of them having speed and being scoring punches..Something that can really be capitalised on if you have the right style..

Not sure if you heard but paulie has now hooked up with mcgirt and buddy says his main objective is to get paulie snapping them punches.. Wants to work on the teqnique..He might have got paulie early enough to change him too...Once you get too far over a certain number of bouts theres little going back..But with the right training and since paulie is stil young with not that many wars under his belt he might just make it through the other end..
I remember roy jones at middle and super middle wasnt really heavy due to big build..Its was the speed and teqnique which gave him the power of his punches..
    Peace
