Prime Mike Tyson Vs Rocky Marciano

[color=blue]All true points, but those things are not his fault. He fought everyone around and is the victim of the fact there was not a great rivalry to be had.

BUT ..... Rocky never lost so nobody can really see the circumstances in which he was beaten. He had one of the hardest punches in history, was supremely conditioned at all times, a real pro, and he had heart and guts that would shame many other great fighters. His chin and resilience was something to behold.

Yet everyone(like Jim Lampley) wants to talk about how vastly overrated Tyson's record is because he came along a weak Heavyweight division but treats Marciano and Vitali like the Masiah

I know im going of the subject here but anyone know why Marciano retired when he did? I mean 49 fights undefeated - why not take one more and retire on 50? Was he somehow forced into retiring through injury or something, I have no idea but it just seems weird you wouldnt make it to 50. Only one fight more but just sounds so much more impressive.

he showed no charcter whatsoever when he lost to douglass, he quit on his stoll agaisnt mccline when he, and he wasnt injured, he just didnt feel like fight anymore. he bit holyfeilds ear(real class act), hes tried to break fighters arms. he is a loser and a bum, im glad hes doen fighting. marciano wouldve taken his shots, and when tyson realized that rocky was standing up to him, it would be buster douglas all over again.

I'm another who is not inclined to side with Tyson and I'm on record many times calling him overrated. That being said, He takes Rocky, and that's coming from a guy who lives 20 minutes from Brockton. Both were swarmers, both packed a punch. Even if think Rock had better one shot power ( I think he might have), Tyson was bigger, faster, and had better D. In a battle between swarmers, bigger, faster, and more movement will win unless the slower guy is much more skilled. Rock wasn't more skilled than Tyson. The only clear advantage he had was heart. That wouldn't be enough. You need heart and a jab to beat Tyson.

A prime Mike Tyson would of cleaned the Rock's clock faster than you can cross a road. Rocky Marciano didn't have the movement of Tyson or the head/hand speed either.

Rocky Marciano isn't great and here's why:

1. Jersey Joe Walcot had his last 2 carer fights against Rocky before retiring i.e. was past his best when he met the Rock.

2. Archie Moore was 39 when he fought a 32 year old Rocky and Archie was past his best by then as well.

3. Joe Lewis last fight was against Rocky when he was well finished.

4. Couldn't box for sh*t!

5. Ringcraft was not good in comparison to Ali or Tyson.

joe louis beat a 37 yr old man fot the title so u cant diss rocky--plus louis oppostion was practically the same as rockys. tyson had no oppostion as well--and rocky was a puncher not a boxer--he did pretty good for a guy with the shortest arms in heavyweight history

realistically i think tyson would win--but prime tyson could also flatten louis as well

Not to start a second debate, but Prime Louis has a much better chance. He could jab, move, and box, as well as punch like a truck. Prime Louis kills Rocky and could at least matchup with Tyson.

Tyson didn't use advanced training... when in his prime he did things old school, and was taught how to be an old school fighter... he simply a way superior athlete.

Son, you're out of your mind. Marciano posessed true grit, an indomitable will, and was mentally unshakeable. He posessed super human toughness, never got rattled and would have put Tyson out in 5.
The record speaks for itself...the only UNDEFEATED HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION EVER...and the GREATEST OF ALL TIME......
