Re: Legends...Lets hear it..
Thunderman, To compare Gatti to Burley is stretching it a bit, in fact a lot. How many HOF has Gatti beat. The saying To good for his own good was penned for Burley, always having to give weight to get fights. Have a look at his record which doesnt tell half the story as regards weight given away. Hed beaten the Welter and Middle champs in non title fights the welter champ bought his contract so he wouldnt have to fight him. Robinson said he was to pretty to fight Burley, and wanted 300% more money to fight him than he was getting at the time , pricing the fight a no no. If you dont beleive me heres a nice quoute from Archie Moore People ask me who was the best fighter you ever boxed and I tell them Marciano, because its what they want to hear. Hell Marciano beat me when I was 42 and I gave him a good battle. Charley Burley was the best, he beat me in my prime Burley gave me a Boxing lesson. Charley Burley is a legend in Boxing, but the public doesnt know him because he never got the credit Eddie Futch.
