He's only one of the top fighters because Cotto and Maweather moved up, Kostya retired, Castillo can't seem to get past weigh ins and he bored Corley to death to win the WBC title. As far as i'm concerned it might as well be Soulemayne M'baye calling out Hatton after all he's a champion so that makes him one of the top fighters at 140 right? :P

    welcome to the forum mate...

so you saying Urango to YOU as a fan is a better fight than Witter?
its a better fight for hatton stateside yes, you could just imagine the u.s haters if hatton fought witter on a hbo ppv you wouldn't have heard the end of it, ive seen urango fight a couple of times and he looks impressive he's also a good boidy puncher and dont take a backward step, he also looks to hit very hard. all in all id say he will be a more entertaining fight than witter.

I don't think that's really the case at all.. Why would it be treated any differently by US fans then the Urango fight?? Urango isn't an American if that's what your thinking Witter has the WBC belt, certainly he won it a hell of a lot more convincingly than Urango did, and against a better fighter. Id give Wittter a much better chance to give Hatton all he could handle, and their two styles would clash badly, but I've never seen Hatton in a boring fight and Witter would have to fight a little more than he likes to.. Id say that fight would be alot better while it lasted.

Witter started this back in 2000, he got up on the apron after Hatton beat Johnathan Thaxton, showed no class, said he was shit, and would beat him. There had been no words before that happened, for years it has been Witter doing all the talking, Hatton has shown pure class and laughed off everything he has been saying, made humour from it. Just compare the records, especially the last five fights, take a good look. Witter says hatton tries to take the easy route, he must be joking.

I don't think Witter has EVER faught beaten a fighter with a win against a top 10 ranked fighter. Hatton is challenging for his 4th consecutive world title. There's no comparison.

The problem is HBO, Witter has done nothing to impress America or give any indication that the fight between Hatton and Witter would be any good. Witter was so negative and boring against Colin Lynes or Chop Chop, running away the whole time and scraping the decision, so when he's in with Ricky Hatton why would it be any different. I think that is the ONLY reason HBO isn't intrested, because WBC belt, and British rivalry are 2 selling points, but if the fight is crap no one is going to watch either of them again. Urango on the other hand, stylistically its guaranteed to be an excellent fight.

3rd And its a Belt, he was already champ at 140 wasn't he? He never lost it down there. And he already had the IBF belt and he vacated it to go up to 147 and came back down and the IBF belt was already his, its not a new title he needs to win he already had it Urango is just holding it.

I looked at both opponents records

Witter's opponent(from the record) beat Maussa before Hatton right? He also beat Cosme Rivera who's challenged for the undisputed championship(and lost) but gave Joel Julio a hell of a fight(and by the scores could have gone either way decked him in the 12th) Can you name one person on Urango's record that he beat who challenged for a world title? Mike Arnaoutis(was a draw) who people think beat Urango, and Ben Rabah(it was the fight) and people say he beat Urango.

Who is in easier? I don't know to be honest after looking at both the records. According to the records of wins and losses and the fact that Urango has punching power you got to say that Hatton is in more dangerous(because of his come forward style)

But they BOTH are considered "easy" fights.

Just like the easy fight Morales was supposed to have with Raheem

Urango fight is for the IBF and IBO, WBA 140 against Maussa, WBA 147 against Collazo, IBF against Tszyu. Technically its 5 challenges for 4 belts, in consecutive fights, and Urango is undefeated, morua has lost or drawn 25% of his fights. Lets be real. If Witter was French, like Soulaymen M'Baye, would anyone be intrested??

Its not technically anything. Hatton already won the(thanks for the correction) IBF belt from Kostya Tszyu and thus was the undisputed at that weight class for beating him. The rest of the belt collecting was just to add on.

If you want to go on collecting belts, then its only "technically" not even an attempt(the Urango fight)

    IBF against Tszyu

    WBA against Maussa

    WBA against Collazo right?

Hatton already HAD the IBF belt so its nothing new, it's as legitimate as Gatti's "WBC" belt

SO its nothing really new. And do you really REALLY count the IBO a world title

Fact of the matter is we aren't dealing with "ifs" we're dealing with is, and Witters not French. And besides, if Witter is so much not on Hatton's league why not take a shot at a "belt" that he's never won

so are you saying that floyd mayweather is only a 3 weight world champion? If gatti's WBC belt wasnt legitimate then surely when PBF beat him it wasnt for a legitimate title.
