Rock rolled with punches and was never hurt he was knocked down because of balance.

Let's see Mike Tyson take the punch Ezzard Charles did....WOWZERS

You can hit harder with bigger gloves (to an extent)

Marciano would have been out in 1 against a prime Tyson. Marciano wasn't a heavyweight by today's standards and if he came in against the 220 lbs of wall he would have quickly been outsped, outpunched, outdodged and out cold. Tyson made mincemeat out of guys bigger than him frequently. What would he have done against a fighter 30lbs+ his junior who was much slower?
    Oops

Marciano was probably one of the worst pure boxers of all time but he had a ridiculous chin, a really hard punch, and was in shape that would rival some of the best conditioned athletes today. Tyson was fast, had great head movement, and also a pretty nasty punch. I still say that a prime tyson beats or challeneges an great all time heavyweight, but not marciano. The only way you could beat marciano is to stick and move for 15 rounds because if he caught you once, the fight was over. Marciano by late ko.
