The commentators on HBO said Hatton was not a heavy favorite for that fight. Was that not the case?

am i serious about what? the fact hariss coudn't beat him? well of cims erious about it, moussa spanked vivan... you think harris lost 'coz of a bad day? if that was the case surly he would of chased a rematch and whooped maussa asap?Originally Posted by sarahjane
I think your the one whos arguing that maussa is a pile of crap... piles of crap don't beat respect world champions like he did.
You saying harris lost because of maussas bad style? or just pointing out he style is shit? i agree it aint exactly good, but if (and not saying you are) using his style as a reason harris lost, well hatton had no problem beating him with that style...
Back to the topic...
i tend not to pay any attention to it because all said and done Ricky beat a World Champion and Urango didnt get a world championship belt out of a lucky bag he needed to be able to fight and Ricky only lost a couple of rounds in beating him
so take the posts with a pinch of salt mate... they will always be here its just all part and parcel of a forum![]()
Harris DID try to get a rematch.Originally Posted by Preme

I think from a purely neutral point of view it is also important to support great matches because entertainment is the number 1 reason most fans watch boxing. And i am not different. I found myself leaning towards Castillo and Corrales in certain points of their 2 fights. With hatton its a different story because i think a lot of Brits are proud of what he is achieveing so we'l tend to stick by him no matter what.
How much are ticket prices in America for the big fights. Over here they are very very expensive. I paid what would work out at roughly $200 for pretty shit seats at the hatton - Maussa fight. Same goes for most sports. Prices are un realistic to what the average working class fan can afford.

Well the next fight here near where I live is Rocky Juarez those tickets are only $100 but there are only 2 fights, and I'm not a big Juarez fan.Originally Posted by ono

I feel ya, I got a mad blue collar man, if they would just drop the ticket prices a bit they could sell out places out here and get a lot more fans into it. MMA is getting big out here and tickets are a lot cheaper.

You right. Urango got his belt thanks to gift-giving judges. Not only that but title was vacant. Urango was the definition of a paper champion. He never beat the champion in the ring. He "supposedly" beat a fighter who was not even worthy of a title shotOriginally Posted by Saddo

I just think that people should really reserve judgement until after the Castillo fight. An earlier post on this thread said that Hatton came to the US for 2 things: fights and money. So far one has been there without the other.
IMO Maussa, Collazo and Urango were not top level fighters. Maussa got lucky against a poorly conditioned Harris. Collazo was a belt holder in name only and I'm confident Mosley will make a mess of him next month (although I could well be wrong there). Urango had a close fight with a guy called Ben Rabah... Hardly a trio of world beaters for Hatton since the Tszyu fight.
This opposition had been disappointing to me, and since Mayweather and Cotto have both gone north, Castillo and Corrales are the only marquee options out there.
Credit to Ricky - he's fighting Castillo in June. Personally, I think he'll be up for that fight like you would not believe. I think he'll beat Castillo by stopppage.
But until then, lets give him the benefit of the doubt. These guys lately have been awkward and stylistically challenging and he hasn't looked great. BUT, he's due to fight a legend in June so until he does lets lay off.
