Peter better watchout for what he wishes for, he just might get it.....the opportunity that is....the only reason he was even up for a shot is because of the horrible state of the hw division....Vitali is twice the fighter Peter is....and let's face it...a cut was the only thing standing in the way of Vitali getting lewis's belt outright....

Whatever Peter's ability or lack of the fact is that he worked to get his shot. He fought in a world title eliminator for the chance to become Maskaev's mandatory.

He won.

The WBC didn't like it so they made him fight the match again.


He won again.

The WBC still didn't like it so now they are giving a retired former champ HIS (Peter's) shot?

That is just corrupt, plain and simple.

Peter must surely have a case against the WBC for this. He has wasted an entire year of his career fighting for the right to be the WBC mandatory, he's provided them and the the boxing world with two of the best heavyweight fights in recent years against Toney AND he's paid his sacntioning fees to the WBC twice.

The WBC are wankers, filthy, corrupt lowlife scum.

Take your emotion away from this topic, and you can clearly see, that peter has entered a sport, and division that has rules, and regulations. And it clearly states that

Championship Defense Obligations.

a) Voluntary Defense Obligations: All WBC recognized champions must defend their title at least two (2) times a year. Champions will defend their titles either in a voluntary or mandatory defense, as follows:

i) any of the top ten (10) rated contenders;

ii) upon a majority vote of the Board of Governors, any boxer rated from 11 to 19 positions;

iii) a champion or a top-10 rated boxer of another immediate lower or higher weight division, subject to the majority vote of the Board of Governors;

iv) a former or retired world champion upon majority vote of the Board of Governors; and

v) another boxing organization’s champion recognized by the WBC, upon majority vote of the Board of Governors.
Now, I can understand the frustration because peter has fought 2 times to get this shot, But no one cares that vitali was the champ, and did the honorable thing and retired the belt instead of hold on to it, and fight to keep it while he got better. He let someone else take it, and run with it….
Not only that, but WBC holds the right to choose between the two options here, the number 1 contender, or a heavyweight champ that has retired, and then came back… I.E

Under extreme special circumstances, such as an unification bout or a proposed bout with a legendary boxer, that could result in a great promotion, prestige, and importance for the sport of boxing, the WBC may sanction such bout as a mandatory bout. If a mandatory challenger had already been appointed by the WBC, the winner of the special bout will then face the mandatory challenger without an intervening contest.

Now if you want to challenge whether or not vitali is legendary, that’s up to , and the can be a debate for another day. But, peter isnt fighting blind, and if he doesn’t know these rules, or like them… He can either pick a different sport…OR WAIT if he is told to. Not to mention that a fight between Vitali and Oleg would be huge GLOBALY, a lot bigger and samuel peter could ever make it.
