I think if he truely wanted to stand by his beliefs he would have said, before he got drafted, "I will not stay in a country that is waging such a senseless war" and left. If you chose to live in a country, you take the good with the bad. I think its kind of cowardly for Ali to take all the rewards of living in America, but then to not accept the bad like everyone else.
