    I almost stopped reading here

Faced with the decision of whom to bestow what they hilariously called "first mandatory status" upon the WBC executive committee voted for Klitschko.

Last week WBC President Jose Sulaiman told SecondsOut's Thomas Hauser that Peter's qualifications ran secondary to those of "Champion Emeritus" Klitschko. Wladimir Klitschko, the younger brother of Vitali and reigning IBF/IBO heavyweight champion, believes this was a fair decision.

While stressing that he could not talk for his big brother, Wladimir told SecondsOut: "Samuel Peter is very talented, he deserves his title shot and will get it. But I believe because of his age, his talent, his reputation and because he was (promised a direct WBC title shot whenever he returned) Vitali should get to fight Maskaev first."

And I un-became a fan of Wladimer too.

Thanks for saying to read on

What do you expect Wladimir to say?? He's Vitali's brother as well as PROMOTIONAL PARTNER so Vitali AND Wladimir stand to make a fair amount of money if they get the title shot.

It's the mess the WBC created....thought everyone knew about Vitali's emeritus status, the WBC should have fixed it before it became an issue....oh well nothing will ever win yall over......go cry about I am sure it'll help

The WBC is at fault and MAYBE Oleg Maskaev but no one else

this is the important part of the article

    http://www.secondsout.com/USA/news.cfm?ccs=229&cs=21217

WBC President Sulaiman will be going back to the executive committee and essentially informing them he has overruled their decision to allow Klitschko to fight for the title immediately.

Sulaiman will say that 'new information' has come into his hands and, in all likelihood, Peter will get the nod - unless he accepts a reputed $1million in step-aside money.

WBC is trying to offer Peter $1 million in side step money ,, Hope he don't take it !!!!

Why ? Because Peter will make a huge chunk of change fighting Maskaev.. the when he beats Maskeav ,Peter will then be the champion and have the money split advantage on the Klitchko fight purse . otherwise Vitali will become champion and have the Champions leverage on the purse split. Peter- Klitchko will be a huge money maker ! on a 70 -30 split. you want to be the defending champion !

How can you "un-become" a fan of a guy because he sticks up for his older brother? Sounds like you weren't to much of a fan to begin with...

Anyways, I hope this report is true because as a Peter fan for a few years, I really want this to be true. Peter already said he won't accept a step aside purse. I'm pretty sure I read that on Fightnews.

haha What a prick Ant evens is, sound slike he beats one off over the wb and vitali...

ah well, they are doing the right thing, but not because they want to or think its right, coz they scared of getting sued or slatted even more... I consider the WBC to now be the woset belt out of the big four.

It doesn't mean much....I mean instead of Vitali KO-ing Oleg he just gets to KO Sam Peter though I believe Sam won't want that fight as a first defense.

Sam Peter may have improved but he hasn't improved enough to beat Vitali Klitschko and I doubt he has improved enough to beat Wladimir either.

I'm not being a hater I'm just being real with everyone, Sam is talented and should take out Maskaev easily and I think he could beat almost anyone in the division not named Klitschko. I am a Klitschko fan but I don't take that into account when thinking about a fight between Sam Peter and either Klitschko brother....Sam just hasn't shown the consistency to take out either fighter

You know I feel for Peter...IMO and that of most is he deserves the shot...HE HAS EARNED IT!!!!....The again you really can't blame Vitaly for wanting the shot if he was indeed given that option b4 he retired...It is business and not personal I guess would be the best way to put...I found it interesting on whatWlad said about Peter being young and he has time....This is true IMO and also IMO Sam Peter will be around as a top guy for a long time especially because he just keeps getting better...In a few years he will not only be a power house but will have boxing skills to go along with it.....That still does not mean because he has more time left he should just be patient and wait like it's nobig deal...He earned the right to fight NOW!!!!...and if the Klitschkos are so sure Peter would fall to Vitaly so easily as Wlad stated then,,,,Vitaly should take a tune up...Peter gets his rightful shot...and Vitaly takes on Peter in Sams first defense...The he gets two paydays....

Vitaly could make money returning against just about anyone because the interest will be there to see what he has left....and his fans will attend to see their fighter return....so interest will be there for the money to be made....Then interest will peak higher to see Peter Klitschko....Am I correct or talking crazy here?......Hell the WBC has eliminators for everything else and interim titles for everything else so make Vitalys first fight back against someone else an eliminator or interim fight if it is so important to them....WBC gets paid no matter what.......DAMN SHAME they have to be shamed into doing the right thing

I would rather see Vitali fight Valuev or Briggs....I've already seen Sam peter beaten up by a Klitschko no need to see that again and because of this situation I don't see Sam Peter giving Vitali a title shot.

Sam Peter deserves the title shot.....Vitali was promised one, the WBC caused this mess and they should fix it.

What bothers me is that people don't understand why Vitali would want to go ahead and get a title shot and they blame him for something the WBC promised him.

But if Vitali is going to take a tune up I suggest James Toney because JT would get flattened by Vitali and we'd actually see someone who was SUPPOSED to KO James Toney.... KO James Toney

Great news, I hope this is true and that Peter will get next shot at Maskaev.

It was interesting to read that the WBC have a history of shafting fighters in order to line their own pockets.

Never thought I'd be grateful towards Don King but it seems like he's come through for Peter on this on, although it was almost certainly not for the benefit of Peter that he did

My ideal scenario would be for Peter to fight Maskaev, knock him out in the first round then take the belt, throw into the crowd and announce that he vacates the piece of trash trinket belt immediately and would never in a million years want to be the WBC's heavyweight champion.

Peter already said in a prior article that he's not taking any step aside money. He wants that title.

C'mon Lyle, you know you don't wanna see either klit in the ring with Peter. BTW, Peter wants to fight Vitali trust me and his punk little bro.

This is funny stuff you wrote BTW....."I am a Klitschko fan but I don't take that into account when thinking about a fight between Sam Peter and either Klitschko brother".....LMAO. I know you were kidding so thanks for the laugh.

I have a suspicion that Vitali is not really healthy enough to fight the best guys out there and he sees Maskaev as a guy he can beat even at far less than 100%. He just wants to accomplish the klit dream of them both holding a world title at the same time and who knows, he might say he's injured again and re-retire.

That leaves us real boxing fans (Klitheads not included) in a worst mess than we were in prior to vitali's return. Looks like we won't get cheated after all though so that's a good thing.
