Default Lennox Lewis vs Tommy Morrison?

I caught the replay of this fight on ESPN Classic last night, it was the first time I had seen it, and those of you were said Tommy fought scared were right. He wasn't terrified like Seldon against Tyson or Spinks against Tyson, but he was clearly intimidated. By a big gay guy with dreadlocks! But seriously, it looked like Tommy was scared to hit Lennox as hard as he could or get in close for fear of pissn off Lennox and gettin KO'd. Very uncharistic fight for Morrison, he usually fought with more passion. That time Lewis pushed Morrison down to the ground, then when the referre called time, followed Morrison around the ring about two feet behind him the whole time, smiling, trying to punk Tommy, well you knew the fight was over right then. Bizarre fight. Morrison got dropped 4 times, but never seriously hurt or KO'd.
"You knocked him down...now how bout you try knockin me down ?"

dont think he was seriously hurt but he got the shit beat out of him. tommy was completely outclassed and outmatched in this fight. you gotta give credit where credit is due, lennox lewis was an awesome heavyweight champ and puts the boys of the division today to total shame.

Yeah Lewis intimidated Tommy by doing that and he knew it . You could see Morrisson looking over his shoulder like a little boy getting bullied . It was a class performance by Lewis that night . Tommy had a rep as a puncher but in the ring it didnt look like it .

I agree with Diamond dave Lewis was a great champion....He iscriticized for his 2 KO losses but he avenged them both with authority.....

Speaking of scared...Watch Lewis/Rahman 2...Rahman was scared from rd one...He knew what was about to happen....Like Morrision he acted as though he didn't want to piss Lennox off.Which he did by talking trash before the fight

After the fight Lewis cracked me up when he called him Hasbeen Rahman

Speaking of people who were scared to punch Lennox , Oliver Mcall didnt exactly throw anything serious in the rematch . Then again he was always abit tempramental .

Golota was another one I felt never fancied his chances with Lennox in the 1st place
Akinwande had no slef belief against Lewis
Grant was physically shaking at the prospect
Tua dispite his talk was afraid to take chances
Even Tyson fought like a man on his way to his execution
Bowe IMO was always intimidated by Lennox

Looking back Lewis scared fighters just like Tyson . They went about it differently though . Tyson was savage whereas Lewis was so big I think opponents doubted themselves on how they could beat him and gave up mentally .

Apart from Lewis' obvious physical size, I think his calmness used to get to opponents. He had complete confidence in his ability & always looked convinced he was good enough to win any fight he was in.

Hey man, I've sparred big guys before and it is intimidating....your mind plays tricks on you, you know they are bigger and have more places where you can hit them but you start "looking big" at you targets and everything is in the way gloves, arms, elbows....and then you think "hell even if I do land something it won't hurt them"

You really have to hunker down and be sure of yourself REALLY sure of yourself because you'll get hit and those thoughts will keep coming back into your mind.

Also vs better BOXERS it's difficult because you use so much energy to land 1 punch when they have the jab in your face all night long

A lot of people give LL a hard time. He's not my favorite fighter - he always came off as arrogant - but he was definitely the most solid HW of the last decade or so. Size, skills, and mental toughness - he was a VERY well-rounded boxer.

I know a lot of people have different opinions, but I still think he took Vitali too lightly and was on his way to losing that fight. I know, I know - a lot of you feel differently, but that's just my opinion. Had he lost, he probably would have performed MUCH better in a rematch, just going on his past fights.

It may be awhile before we see a HW like Lewis. Wlad and Vitali are monsters, but I don't think either one has the total package that Lewis did. I guess we'll see....

It was the way he went about it like GOO GOO said.....You never seen Lewis rattled and upset....Lennox never loses his cool...That gives an aura of confidence...Like he knows he is about to beat you and he is just letting you simmer till he is ready

I seen the fight myself and I don't think that Morrison was scared at all. Infact he landed some pretty good combinations against Lewis. He was just completely outclassed. He was in with a better fighter period! A fighter that was able to avoid Morrison's left hook and land counters in between Morrison's punches. Lennox was a good solid champion but I honestly didn't think he was that great. He fought a awesome fight agianst Holyfield the first time, but was completely outclassed and clearly beaten in the rematch with Holyfield. You saw all you needed to see in Lewis's eyes while they announced the decision. He knew he got schooled and was extremely happy with any decision that didn't have him losing. lol Almost the same thing happened when Lennox fought Mercer. Except I had Lennox winning by 2 points as did most. It was a damn good close competative fight that definitely should of been a rematch. If Lennox would of dominated Mercer in a rematch then dominated Holyfield in a 3rd fight I would have a lot more respect for him. But he was still a good solid champ. To his credit he did take on all challengers. He did beat every man that beat him. And it's been a long, long, long time since we have had a champ like that. Now we need another one bad!

Yeah that was an odd fight. The Frank Bruno fight was on there too.....another really strange fight with a crazy looping desperation shot by Lewis turning the whole fight around. YOu could tell the momentum was shifting but it was a crazy turnaround. They interviewed Lewis after they showed the fight and he said it was raining and cold and he just started warming up...who knows?? Bruno looked like he could bang....just a glass chin??
Also the Shannon Briggs fight was on too. I can't believe Briggs is a champion today.......it was really sad with Lewis just toying with Briggs.

Always makes me laugh that does.

I loved it when Lennox called him the "one punch wonder"

As a Canadian i watched Lewis right from day one in the Olympics and with much interest afterwards.
I find it interesting how different people perceive things..
    arrogant,confident,,etc.

I alway got the impression that he was a phony.
That he didn't REALLY believe in himself.
    Like inside he was scared.
The rap on him at first was that he had no punch and no chin.
That always kind of stayed in my mind even tho' he proved it was far from the truth.
When Tyson said "I'll kill you" he really believed it,and made you believe it too..
When Lewis said "I'll beat you" or what ever I always thought..ya right! who do you think your fooling...

Briggs did ok i thought and also looked really quick for a heavy weight, heshowed good heart too, if things had been a little bit different he could have knocked out lewis that night (think he had him shaken in the 1st ?)
    Thats cricket
