I can't say someone is the best of all time, because I have never seen footage of every single boxer, and like numerous people mentioned in this thread a lot of great boxers were held down in Sugar Ray's time because they weren't "connected". But that aside, out of all the guys I've seen I can't think of anyone better than SRR. I'm a big fan of his (you can see the tribute video I made of him on Youtube, its the one with the song "Devil or Angel" at the end). Unbelievable offensive fighter. Manny Steward said it best, he started out his career at 135, and when he moved up in weight he was knocking out tough middleweight's with one punch. Such a great fighter.
David Lemieux = Future MW Champ and P4P King
Budd Schulberg , Charley Burley Eddie Booker Jack Chase Burt Lytell Llyod Marshall Terrorised the middleweight division in the 40s and were avoided to such an extent that they had to fight each other to simply to remain active and earn a living. That in itself tells a story they were called the Black Murderers Row none are on Robinsons resume my favorite word, Why.

Sometimes I have this internal battle when I think about the # 1 of all times. But, I have Robinson in that place. Pound-for-Pound the best. And, if you have any doubt ask Carmen Basilio, La Mota plus other 173 fighters...![]()
Puerto Rico, Small Island, Big Champions!!!
And which great fighter did Lamotta beat other than Robinson. Cardans shoulder went in the fight . In fairness he boxed Marshall, but got beat. Basilio many thought he won both fights.
