I'm sure she will be ok she'l just have to take better care of herself than an ordinary person does.
I had cancer for three years and have been left with damaged lungs, muscular myalgia, underactive thyroid gland and a general all around feeling of shitness. But I walk 10 miles a week, cycle 12 and eat well and am doing fine.
It's just about taking care of your body and being aware. It's never nice to be diagnosed with an illness but in all honesty I consider some of my beer drinking, smoking, drug taking, curry eating, non exercising mates to be at more of a health risk than me.
They abuse their bodies as they don't think anything is wrong with them but when they hit 40 they will no doubt start to reap the bad harvest of years of abuse.
Your sister, as she is aware of the fact she needs to take better care of herself may conversely end up being more healthy than her friends as time goes on.

for caring about your sister by the way
