D'OH - it would have been if you bet on Schmeling though!

I'd bet that Tyson would eat Holyfield's ear.

And that an angel from the sky would determine the outcome of the Holyfield Bowe II.

Apart from the fact that the 'Angel' didn't have any real bearing on the fight

Ali - Spinks must've been good odds and obvioulsy Foreman - Ali.

Don't forget Braddock (Cinderella man) vs. Max Baer. I don't know what the odds were but nobody in their right mind picked Braddock.

Ali vs. Leon Spinks 1 was a big upset.

Foreman vs. Ali had Foreman a big favorite.

Schmeling vs. Joe Louis 1 was a big upset.

Roger Mayweather vs. Freddie Pendleton: an obscure fight but a big upset.

Here's 1 more: Ross Puritty vs. Wladimir Klitschko. Puritty was 24-13-1 while Klitschko was 24-0. The fight was very important for Klitschko but at that time he wasn't well known so few saw the fight. I never saw it. Of course Puritty was better than his record would suggest, but he was already well known for going the distance in losing efforts to many top-ranked fighters.

I read somewhere that Tyson Douglas was the biggest upset in boxing history going by odds, I have heard 43-45 to 1 several places.. I think Braddock and Max Baer was second at 36 or 33/1..

    Heh,

Didn't you see HBO's Legendary Nights "Holyfield Bowe Trilogy"? Both fighters and respected writers thought it changed the outcome, score-wise and fight-wise.

Good point, back in them days 33/1 was a minimum for the draw, sometimes you got 50/1, and sometimes even a 100/1; because everyone knew you NEVER get draws in boxing
