BB that's quite a statement! I was in France for 3 weeks last spring and was thinking I would get a dirty look here and there cause they'd see I was American, but on the contrary I didnt get anything like that and everyone I met went out of their way to be courteous and helpful.Originally Posted by Memphis
When I was driving through the Alps we pulled over at a rest stop and when this old couple heard our American english they came over and the old lady was going on and on about how the Americans saved her from normandy in WWII and how she loved them and kept squeezing my arm and stuff lol. I was getting eyed up like crazy from all the french woman as well, but basically the only thing I knew how to say is "Je ne parle pon France" = "I do not speak French"
Anyways, the morale of the story is I always heard french people were notorious for showing contempt to outsiders, especially US people but I was there for 3 weeks and NEVER got any of it.
