He wasn't just in the HOF just for his boxing, he was a huge political figure in his day for the still on going battles between catholics and protestants in Ireland. A very important and brave figure in extremely tough times, there's still massive problems now, but Barry united Ireland and brought hope. Even without that, could you deny one of Ireland's greatest fighters a place in the HOF?
No offence, but nationality doesn't have anything to do with boxing. Why should anything he did for Ireland or anywhere else matter when it comes to his being in the BOXING hall of fame? His resume is nowhere near worthy of being there, and as far as I know political impact isn't one of the criterium the HOF generally look for
