Just went to an Ultimate Fighting event...
It was an event put on by Mark 'The Hammer' Coleman's "Hammer House Fight Club".
Totally Sold Out.
We got there assuming that 3 of our friends could buy tickets at the door.
The rest of us had already bought ours tickets.
Lucky me.
They had to buy tics from scalpers & take a bath (financially).
There were about 10 fights.
The first few were just some guys with not much experience, not that much talent, but I respect anyone who steps through the ropes.
One fight lasted 10 seconds.
Dude left haymaker-hooked this opponent, got him on the canvas, straddled him left righted his face until he tapped.
Of course I couldn't see it, because a fight was going on to the left of me in the standing crowd.
Eventually, we sneaked into the reserved high dollar ticket place, where the tables with tablecloths are.
Then I could see perfectly.
The last fight only lasted one round, but both guys had good MMA skills.
The guy with the belt (who's girlfriend I met) lost to the other guy & had to give up the belt.
(don't remember their names)
The coolest part of the night to me, was the fact that Mark Cloeman was really there.
He was at ringside, down on the floor & consoled the losers & congratulated the winners.
He especially spent time with the losers, which I really respected from him.
After the last match, the testoserone level was bending the needle on the meter.
Everyone wanted to fight.
This fight started right in front of us when we were squeezing through the folks to leave.
We stepped back to let the dicks swing, & do whatever they felt they had to do.
I wasn't getting into nothing.
I went there to watch fights.
Anyway, Coleman jumped out the ring & got into the middle of the 'situation'.
Dude, he is the best bouncer of all time.
Nobody fucks with Mark Coleman when he says to "COOL IT!!!"
I fucking cracked up.
Suddenly, nobody in the crowd thought they were the tuff-guy anymore.
I was right beside Coleman, & I looked him in the eye, shook his hand & said, "I'm proud of you, Buckeye."
(For anyone who doesn't know, Mark Coleman was an Ohio State Buckeye wrestler.)
I was flattered that in the middle of the shit, he turned & gave me a smile.
Personally, as I've said before, I hope Mark quits competitive extreme fighting.
He is the man to be sure, but he is just getting too old, & doesn't have the quickness that he needs to gain control of matches like he always did in the past.
I don't want to see him lose to lesser fighters anymore.
Here is a flyer of an upcoming event, & my ticket stub.
