Getting ripped is basically a term used to mean having a very low body fat % so that your muscles and abs are very defined. Also known as getting cut up. Gettting your body in this kind of shape is basically 80% diet and 20% weights and abs work. No matter how much you lift and run and do situps, you will never look "ripped" unless your body fat drops to about 6-10% body fat. Try to eat 5 small meals a day, with emphasis on carbs in the morning, and protein in the evening. As far as lifting, do excercises with less weight and more reps.. in the 15-20 rep range each set, very slow, pausing at the top and bottom. You wont gain much mass this way, but it will help definition. Hope that helps ya out. Good luck.
