firstly i aint really a fan of either, oscar doesnt fight often enough for me to become a proper fan and he is kinda boring (press conferences). but he is/was a great fighter no doubt.
floyd is also a wicked fighter, has THE TALENT to become the greatest boxer of all time p4p. but he hasnt fought everyone, he hasnt been in that many big fights. like leonard-duran. he needs to fight hatton for them kinda fights. i dont like him cos he says he the greatest eva n he hasnt fought everyone whereas leonard n ali fought everyone, dangerous fighters!...n won!
also i heard he dissed leonard once, somat about losing to a lightweight (duran)

when i first heard these two were fighting i thought, oscar is too big, big left hook, n skillful, he'll knock floyd out. then i remembered the mayorga fight. if any of you's have boxed before you'd have seen a big weakness in oscar that night. oscar wasnt throwing much, alot of covering up, EVEN mayorga was able to quickly close the range n bang in a few body shots n go out, infact thats what won him some of the rounds. maybe that was the plan, oscar wasnt wasting much punches, when he threw his punches, they were in bunches and were effective! yes he was making mayorga go back but any skilled fighter would have done what mayorga was doing even better. mayorga was closing range banging a few to the body, and sometimes threw an uppercut. one got thru. oscar that night was being far too patient.
i thought mayorga was landing quite easily, anyone with more skill would pick him apart. but ur entitled to ur own opinion. even if oscar decides to run at floyd, floyd could get into his defensive shell, be too cute (like toney v holyfield) n counter. FLOYDS STYLE IS MORE WELL ROUNDED TO OSCARS, MORE VERSATILE! is oscar runs, floyd will beat him, if he is too patient like last fight he'll get picked apart, if he tries making it a chess match, well u can guess what happens then. (NOBODy BEATS FLOYD IN CHESS..LOL) if he runs at floyd, well i already told u what i think would happen. his best bet is to try n slug it out with floyd n land tht left hook, then it shud get interesting!

ppl that are sayin oscar is too big should think, they gonna be same weight on the night, most likely. they both started at lightweight so oscar really himself is also a welterweight. yes he fought at middleweight but he didnt luk healhty at that weight, he luked like a fat c***. dont forget floyd must have sparred with ppl who are bigger than him in the gym, so really its not gonna be somat new. floyds style has alot of james toney init, the defensive tricks, shoulder rolls, (apart from the running away tactics) he could stand in front of u n make u miss, this is what floyd plans on doing against oscar, n i think this tactic will work against oscar. jus imagine a james toney style against a oscar style. so u can get the size factor out of here, cos its not that huge a factor, floyd spars with super middleweights! i think floyd is gonna be too cute on the night n win.

Basically THE REASON WHY I THINK FLOYD WINS THIS IS COS FLOYDS STYLE IS MORE VERSATILE. FLOYD WILL ADAPT TO ANY CHANGES (MUCH LIKE TONEY!) he is more well rounded as a boxer, he is alot smarter imo. if oscar fights how he did in his last fight, then i think floyd would pick him apart all night.

the onli fighter that i think could beat floyd is hatton. ricky hatton that is. remember this saying 'a boxer would beat a slugger, a slugger would beat a volume puncher, a volume puncher would beat the boxer!'

i'd like to hear from all of you's, i dont want to know who u want to win but who u think is gonna win n why. have u got a betta arguement than mine?

Ricky don't beat Floyd he had move back down to light welterweight because he were'nt strong enough at welterweight his own addmission so he would'nt be strong enough for Floyd who has fought and beat 2 of the strongest welters and is now moving upto 154
A few thing about the post No.1 floyd hasnt thought 2 of the strongest welterweights nd no2 floyd is definatley not stronger than hatton it just there styles of fighting that makes it easier for floyd to fight bigger men nd by this im not trying to say hattons a btter boxer than floyd although i do think hatton has as good a chance as ne1 at beating floyd also i think that oscar will give him a better test than most people think

I apologise sincerely to the OP for coninuing this sidetrack of his thread

As has been pointed out, styles make fights. Mayweather's style allows him to move in up weight because his style is based on him doing two things:

    1) Not getting hit
    2) Landing alot of counters

His ability to do this allows him to outscore any boxer on the planet, bar none. He does not need a knockout, or even te ability to knock somebody out.
Personally, I view his style as somewhat similar to amateur boxing in a sense. (THIS IS NOT A DIG AT HIM IN ANY WAY) He scores points with the judges by landing and not being hit, however the effectiveness of his punches is much more than those of an amateur. As an amateur is, he is reliant on the technical aspect of the art.

The difference lies in the potential of opponents. Amateurs are rarely faced with brutal opponents who will leave them wondering what day it is. 1 punch is 1 point. With headgear and bigger gloves, you will feel a big hit, but you can always come back from it, land a few soft jabs, picking up 2 or 3 points and be ahead on the cards, even if, in reality and without headgear, you would have been seeing stars and counted out.

Mayweather's whole career is based on not getting hit. But guess what, one day, he will. He would hands down beat Hatton or DLH on points. There is no question of that in my mind. He is a technical genius. But, we have to ask ourselves two questions:

    1) Does he have the artillary to stop them?
    2) Do they have the artillary to stop him?

In my mind, the answers are yes and yes, ifor DLH and no and yes for Hatton. I put DLH at about 20% to win by stoppage and Hatton around 35%. I can see Mayweather stopping Oscar, but there is no way I can see him stopping Hatton.

I know I will probably get sad clicked for this, but it is just my opinion. Yes I am a Hatton fan, but I also respect Mayweather's outstanding ability. I'd actually like him as a boxer if he weren't a complete tool as a person

I would like to just put something forward and would appreciate a good response.

Firstly, Im a fan of PBF's skills, but how can this man proclaim to be a 'helluva' champ? He runs his mouth too much. Its obvious he aint confident of his ability because he has to talk s**t. No one who knows that hes a class act has to run his mouth. You can see this by looking at his reaction to Larry Merchant after Baldomir fight.

Secondly, he claims Ricky Hatton aint good enough for him. HAS MAYWEATHER BEATEN ANYONE AS GOOD AS KOSTYA? dont think so! Ricky would be too much for Floyd, the man should be an olympic long distant runner. Look at how Ricky carries himself compared to PBF, Floyd aint no gentleman, hes a loud mouth annoyance. Ricky all day long, bring it on, would be good to get the fight at Wembley, UK.

    Appreciate any views, cheers

I don't hate Ricky but so what he beat an old Kostya who had only fought once in 23 month He can't beat Mayweather Mayweather beat Castillo twice on the trot when he was at the top of the lightweights and Corrales when he was unbeaten in 33 dropped him five times and stopped him Ricky moved back down because he did'nt feel strong enough at welter floyds fought well at welter and now is going up to fight at light middle Ricky is'nt strong enough to stop Floyd he would give him an half decent fight but stop him NEVER!

In many people's eyes he beat Castillo once.

But Floyd got the win bottom line is i don't think Hatton can beat him and he definately can't stop him

You should know better than to claim that a win is a win, regardless of what actually happened in the fight. Bottom line is, he was given a torrid time in the first fight. Yes he came back better and won, but it was a dubious decision, much worse than Hatton/Collazo. Hatton has been derided for lackluster wins and fairly, but you can't just claim that when Mayweather does it it's acceptable because what goes down on paper is all that matters. Tell that to Lennox Lewis.

The PBF vs DLH fight will NOT even be close! No one has been able to break down floyds arsenal. For you to say that Hatton has a strong chance is a joke.Did you see him in his last fight? As for Hattons"left hook"...Floyd rolls and parrys...when have you ever seen Floyd get hit with a flush hook?especially one being thrown by a slow puncher.
