Very interesting matchup.
I mean, what sort of shape is Vargas in? Has he really completely hit the dirt? No question Vargas is hitting major decline, but did Shane's glaring speed advantage make Vargas look slower than he really is?
Even with Vargas' deteriorating speed, Mayorga isn't a hard target to hit. I mean I throw my keys on the counter when I come home every day and it hits Mayorga by accident.
I think Vargas beats Mayorga inside if he goes there.
Outside, Mayorga wins. (Man, it feels like the biggest insult saying Mayorga could outbox someone!). The only way Mayorga is gonna get good leverage on his shots is from looping his shots from the outside. And with Vargas' deteriorating speed, Mayorga could knock this guy out.
But Vargas forcing him back and staying close, Mayorga can't fight backwards and he's got no power without his looping shots. It's like sitting in the eye of the hurricane.
