I love me some Gatti, I'm one of THE few who thinks Gatti is HofFame....

Wasn't that a thread topic not to long ago??....Is Gatti HOF worthy....
IMO he is a shoe in....The guy is not the greatest on a tech basis thats for sure but he has given us some great fights and has the true heart of a fighter and thats what it is about what you contribute not who beats you
If boxing's HOF was legit like MLB's, Gatti would never get in. However since the Boxing HOF let's in every single fighter under the sun I'm sure Gatti will be inducted.
How do you figure Gatti is not worthy of HOF status...He is a two division champion....He has fight of the year honors,,round of the years honors and has given us some of the most exciting bouts this era..Thats not worthy why??
I don't think you understand what HOF is
Read what I wrote dingbat. I said if it was like MLB's HOF, he wouldn't get in. If boxing's HOF had the criteria for induction of MLB's HOF, it wouldn't just let in fighters who are good, you have to be the best of the best. How beloved you are has nothing to do with it. Arturo Gatti never once for one day in his career cracked the top 10 p4p list. There's 17 different weight division with 3 different belts, meaning at any given time there's roughly 40 different guys holding onto world titles, and many of them may win another in a second division. Winning a title in a second division is hardly acclaim by itself to put someone into the HOF, IF boxing's HOF was like baseball's, which was my whole point

You have a fair point and your opinion is valid, but you can't compare MLB or most any other sport to boxing, because the intagibles don't come into play . You don't have any blood and guts warriors in baseball, when's the last time one player put everything they had on the line to create one of the single best game of baseball ever? It's just not the same, stupid comparison. Gatti's famous, not for being an elite p4p guy, but for being a complete warrior who was in great fights. You can't measure that on paper.
No one's comparing the sport of MLB or any other sport to boxing

I'm saying baseball's idea of putting only the very best of the best into the HOF should be mirrored by boxing. Based on your assursion Emmanuel Burton is a boxing Hall of Famer. If anyone bothered to notice, I said I fully expect Gatti to be inducted based on how boxing's HOF is. I simply think boxing's HOF is a joke.
You were comparing them, simply by saying that boxing's HOF should be like another sport, or that if it was like another sport the comparison has to be drawn, and my point was that boxing isn't really like any other sport. People don't become one of the most prominent and eventually famous figures in other sports without having top calibre talent, least not many. Gatti did, based on his sheer toughness and heart, and the performances he put on. Therefore, for a while, he was considered one of the best of the best in boxing. Not by experts, but more people knew of him and paid to see him fight then save for another 2 or 3 fighters in the sport. Doesn't matter if you or I didn't consider him one of the best, alot of people probably did. So what if the odd guy get's in to the HOF who is perhaps questionable in terms of being top calibre, it's not as if that therefore puts them on the same plane as Duran and Ray Robinson on skills or achievements.. It's the hall of FAME. I really don't understand how you can be against Gatti being accepted.
