    Pernell by UD.

IMO Pernell would of beaten any Lightweight in history cause of his style.

That includes Duran,Duran wont get the better of someone he couldnt even hit

I believe Mayweather beats Pernell because they are comparable in skill though PBF IMO is better rounded, and he has the speed factor.

Hmm, I'm not sure he looks awkward to me. A bit robotic at times, although some might just call it "textbook" compared to Mayweather, SweetP or Jones.

Though I'm of firm belief that Whitaker got robbed my Oscar, it was a close fight, and IMHO, Shane is P4P and Prime for Prime better than Oscar. There is a very good chance that Pernell loses to Shane. I'd say this is a "pickem" fight.

Only way Shane could win this fight is via knockout. And he's not stopping Whitaker. So Pernell wins this one

But this logic is flawed, because the Pernell who fought DLH was waayyyyyy past his prime. He was 33 years old, and there is a good chance he was already abusing cocaine, considering that he tested postive at his next fight and was in rehab soon after.
Prime Whitaker would've beaten DLH easily.

I agree you that he would have taken DLH easily in his prime, and you are right, my logic was off, because I forgot how far past it Pea was when he fought Oscar. Looking at boxrec, The Chavez/McGirt/Vasquez SweatPea probably gets an edge.

I don't think he ever beats ODLH EASILy, but he would have beaten him more convincingly. I don't believe cocaine affects your reflexes over the first little while until its starts totally deteriorating the brain. In the first year or so of use it would actually increase things like reflexes because it speeds up everything in your body, and may be an advantage for awhile for a boxer.

I'm not sure where you get the idea that abusing a drug like cocaine wouldn't affect a fighter's preparation for a fight. He wasn't snorting a line in the dressing room before the fight to get extra energy.... He was abusing drugs and alcohol on a regular basis.
You're telling me that drinking alcohol and snorting coke, instead of focusing on training and eating right, doesn't hurt a fighter's ability to perform at his best? Come on.

Not at all, but do we actually know for sure he was doing cocaine before he fought ODLH, and do you know that he was putting off training during that period. Alchohol is bad for your reflexes and would definitely compromise you in the ring, but not necessarily cocaine... at least not in the first little bit of using it. To say that somebody isn't training because they were doing drugs is one thing, but that wasn't the case against ODLH I know that Whitaker trained for that fight.

i am the biggest PBF fan you will ever encounter but i don't think PBF would beat pernell. not only is pernell a southpaw but he is an extra slick southpaw. Pernell might even be faster then PBF and Pernell defense is definetly better.

How can you think Pernell was faster than Mayweather? Maybe when he was at lightweight and younger compared to Mayweather now at welterweight and 30. Noway was Pernell at the lower weights faster than Mayweather at 130 or 135. Also I don't see how you determine who had the better defense. Pernell's style worked very well against slower fighters, but people like ODLH who isn't the fastest man alive was able to Pernell quite often, and yes he was older, but ODLH was one handed for all intents and purposes. Besides I still argue against it, and I feel that Mayweather has faced higher competition more often than Pernell who did I admit fight some good fighters, but he had weaker ones inbetween. Mayweather besides Sharmba Mitchell and Brusseles has foughten quality opponents his last 13 fights which the exception of maybe of Carlos Hernandez.

BTW the reason why Mayweather beats Pernell is because while Pernell would try to look cute, Mayweather would come in with his hands high like against Judah, and instead of trying to kill Pernell he would hit him with short quick punches. Especially the right hand which I see no way for even Pernell to evade let alone counter. I never saw Pernell possess the twitch reflexes of guys like Mayweather or Judah, and I believe he could also be countered because he would lure opponents in with his jab, but then Mayweather would come in too quick for him.

I think SSM would walk away with a SD, as I think Pernell would win the early rounds but I think SSM would close the show and win the later rounds of the fight by landing solid hard punches NOT saying at will but enough so that the judges remember more those punches then Pernells early masterful rounds he had hence the judges having SSM fresher on their minds as to what he did and finishing the fight by bringing the fight to Pernell......
