Why is it that when talking about the greatest Lightheavyweight nobody mentions Ezzard Charles

I will just admit that I have never heard of him. He must be before my time or when I was very young (I was born 1981) because I have not really scraped the surface when it comes to older fights apart from the big names at heavyweight. Another name to my list though (I have about 80 to look into) I cant wait to find out about them all when I have the time.

His resume is out of this world by the time he boxed Marciano he was dieing. Or had the illness that would kill him. Hes an all time great just look at his record.

A lot of people think he was at his best at light heavy but he didn't fight enough there. He never fought for the title at light heavy and even with wins over Moore, Burley, Bivins and Maxim, they all came fairly early in his career. Especially the Burley and first Maxim fights. All of his biggest fights, including the last Maxim fight, were at heavyweight. Archie Moore had longgevity in the division and had the bigger wins.

Great fighter though, his fight with Marciano was one of the best fights ever, huge turnaround in that one.
