Mike was great but this talk that he never was given chances is nonsense. He did lose to Sumbu Kalambay in 1988 when he was at a point where that would have propelled him to fight Nunn and maybe even Hearns in a big money fight, but he lost.. After that he regrouped and came back and won the middleweight title, but by that time other opportunities passed. That fight with Kalambay, the first one was important to Kalambay. Had he fought Marvin? Marvin at the time he was middleweight champ from 1980-1987 was great. Mike was good but too small in those years. Even a middleweight legit Mike loses to a guy like Hagler. Mike never fought a guy as solid as a southpaw Hagler and experienced like that. Marvin would win a decision or a late knockout.
