And he improves every fight (haven't seen him tonight), how can you honestly pose that question? Zab has a ton to gain by fighting Cotto. For 1, he is fighting Pito his next fight, a pretty good lightweight 4 years ago. That shows how far Zab has fallen. He's lost 2 of his last 3 fights, one to Carlos Baldomir. He has had horrible outings against average fighters in the past while Cotto is a star on the rise.

If he beats Cotto he gains a ton of legitimacy again. You can't honestly think that Cotto brings nothing to the table for Zab. I'll give you one more. When Cotto faces a journeyman, HBO travels to Puerto Rico to cover it. Zab is fighting in the states on ESPN 2. But of course Zab has nothing to gain.
