I'm sure I don't need to reiterate the previous statements but you're right on the button, in that something needs to be brought in, because Geralg McLellan is really only the tip of the iceberg, and an extreme case of how injuries within the sport can affect someone's life outside the squared circle.
I would agree that there is enough money in the sport for this sort of fund to be set up, though it may take an agreement between the governing bodies in every country to set it up, with an international agreement that 0.5% or 1% of all the fees go into a fund, and with the support of the governing bodies it could happen.
