The names on paper are exciting but I'm not sure the fight will be and the number 1 point is,why is Winky going to to 170 and number 2,why the hell is Hopkins calling Winky that high? Why does B Hop always want to fight the smaller guy! BOTH have unfinished business with JT,why not fight him,or Calzaghe?2 fights which I think MOST would be far far far more interested in seeing.

Mick nailed it perfectly,there are lots of different types of technical matches which are good. I didn't see technical mastery from B Hop v JT,that was just not punching,not fighting full stop.I don't want to see more feinting than punching, and I don't want to see excessive holding,that's not a "great" technical match. I like to watch excellent fights full of great jabbing,ring generalship etc but if B Hop is going to just throw lots of feints and 1 right hand per round and Winky(whim I am a big fan of) is going to just throw jabs and straights,it's not a good combination of styles.

There are also repercussions for Winky,where is he going to go after the fight,stay at the weight? Lose all the weight and be weight drained for his next fight? At his age,losing all that weight will surely have side effects?

I guess your last statement answers the question as to why Hopkins is making Winky go to 170. No way B Hop can go back down to 160 at his age, especially as he says he weighs around 190 now.

I don't see the weight being that much of a factor. Hopkins isn't a physical fighter anyway and Winky has proven throughout his career that he is really strong and can take a punch from anyone.

I'll be rooting for Hopkins to pull this one off too, if he does he will have done what nobody would have thought capable after his second loss to Taylor, namely defeating the man at 175 and then defeating the man most regarded as the true middleweight champion.

If Winky wins he's got a case for being p4p number 1 in the sport, a fight with De La Hoya would probably await although I fancy the winner of this to get Calzaghe.

Do people forget that Bhop only moved up from 160 1 fight ago, and he's 42 years old .. And how can anyone pretend that this fight should be at 168... I hope they realize that it's at a catch weight of 170.... 2 lbs more . Fair enough with your point tho Gamo, to expect a dull fighht based on styles is perfectly reasonable. To say that this fight has no signifigance and the winner will gain nothing, is not.

Well neither fighter has a win over JT,and neither,for whatever reason has fought JC,a guy who has the tools to beat them both.So I'd much much rather see those fights. And I'm looking at it more from Winky's point of view,WTF is he going to do if he loses? He decided not to rematch JT for this?! Poor poor move imo.
