What really hurts James Toney are the facts that he's 38, he has no significant punching power at this weight, and out of his 7 fights at heavyweight he has only won in impressive fashion 4 times and one of those times he tested positive for a banned substance....otherwise the win over John Ruiz would be his greatest accomplishment at this weight.

Also the fact that he beat Holyfield up...an older, slower, easier to hit Holyfield who really showed his age in that fight doesn't help him. Had he fought Chris Byrd, Andrew Golota, or any other tough fighter who had been a top level fighter he would be moved up higher of course.

What does help him is that he was able to go 24 rounds with Sam Peter only being knocked down once
