I use VirtualDub-MPEG2 1.6.15 (build 24600/release) by Avery Lee, fccHandler
To take apart the file.

For audio:
Adobe Audition

For images I use
Photo Shop or PaintShop.

Then to finish making the movie I use:
Ulead VideoStudio 10 Plus
