Do the rules of boxing say if you knock your opponent down and it's ruled a knockdown you can't hit them while they are down right or you get a point taken away right

Alright thats the rule if it's ruled a knockdown right?

Well Jay Nady didn't rule it a knockdown and Barerra hit him and Jay penalized him as if it was a knockdown?

But I'm confused because I've seen a lot of fighters slip and get hit by the other person in worse situations and there was no point deductions.


I'm just a lil confused..

For those who asked about Andrade heres my on him.....

Andrade fights flat footed, hes heavy handed and has been able to beat some very prominent opponents Stewart, Kopitko (which I had the pleasure of attending), O. Grant and has stopped fighters that other fighters haven't......


He does lack skill as far as footwork and ring generalship, sometimes he'll stand in one place for too long BUT he is throwing punches so hes not just standing not doing nothing.....

Hes not afraid to stand there and trade though Kessler is probably slightly faster then Andrade. I think Adrande can put his punches together better then Kessler and mixes it up a bit more....
Andrades best chance is attack Kessler to the body which Andrade does very well, Andrade attacks body, body, head he mixes it up to me thats his best chance attack the body and try to take Kessler all the way into the later rounds also Andrade fights busier.....
As far as a jab I sware to me their jab is almost indentical Andrades might be heavier as I think he puts his whole body into it but Kesslers jab is faster and is more of a range finder.....

All in all i think it's gonna be a good scrap once both get warmed up.....

It sounds like a coming forward fighter put there to make Kessler look spectacular, someone who is gonna allow Kessler to get off on him but never take a step back. I think he'll catch Kessler flush a few times but ultimately Kessler is gonna win going away. In the meantime I'm gonna enjoy this Barerra fight

Marquez won the fight. The fight wasn't rigged.

You don't hit a man when he is down. It was a bad call on the knockdown but I think that Nady didn't see it clearly & thought that it was a slip due to the fact that Marquez was coming in & it appeared to be a slip to him. POV.

I think that Nady dropped the ball on this one. Awesome ref but how long was Marquez in that awkward position without Nady stepping in? It was 3 seconds at least and Marquez was close to getting up. Barrera motioned to hit Marquez, he hesitated seemingly waiting for Nady to step in, he feinted pulled back again and still nothing from Nady until Barrera was moving forward already. Protect yourself at all times and Nady wasn't calling a knockdown. I didn't have that much of a problem with what Barrera did because of how awkward of a position Marquez was in and how Nady waited forever to step in. I thought he deserved a warning, possibly a points deduction, and obviously should have been credited with the knockdown.

And Marquez didn't do anything close to whooping Barrera. Unless you posted while watching the 7th but it was a very close fight.

I agree with Merchants scorecard with Marquez winning by 1 point..not 7 or 5. Oh well lets move on cant change whats happened.
