Ive only seen each fighter once.
    I see Earl v Katsidis..

Graham Earl was infuriatingly poor in his fight with Katsidis. So im not too sold on the distruction of a punch bag.

Guzman is a mile better than Katsidis but a fight at 135?! Madness!

I think everyone are selling Katsidis way too short, he showed some inexperience against Earl but overall he was mightily impressive, he's a destroyer. I think this is another potential fight of the year baby, but I'm going for a Guzman UD. Maybe Guzman can coax EM out of retirement if he wins this, that would be a beauty.

I just think its a huge jump up in class from Earl to Katsidis . Remember the Aussie was on the floor in that one so I think he's in trouble here

    EM = Erik Morales
I know Katsidis was on his ass against Earl and rocked in a few spots, but even Graham Earl was a step up for Katsidis in that stage and he coped pretty well, I'd liken it to Hatton getting put down and rocked again a round later by Eamon Magee, or Cotto getting nailed by Torres, it usually happens to upstart world class contenders. I think Katsidis size and power will always give him a chance against Guzman, potentially he could be one of the best.

Thats what I thought but Erik isnt retired . He is fighting David Diaz for the WBC lightweight title in his next fight .

Hatton and Cotto are alot easier to hit than Guzman . Joan has a defence rivalled only by Pretty Boy Floyd . His reflexes are superb and I dont think Katsidis will land a glove on him . I could be wrong but it took several flush shots to finish Earl and Earls defence is pi*s poor . Guzman wont take that many and when he does he can absorb them

Soto Guzman would be a barnburner,I really like Soto alot but I don't HOW good he is. He needs to fight a good name soon or later though!

Yeah,I forgot,I posted it,Juarez is fighting Hernandez I think, the guy who KTFO lITZAU if I'm correct.
There's not a chance in hell that Jmm would "beat Guzman handily", Guzman isn't a washed up Barera you know!!, and even he gave Jmm hell and should have had a knock down against him, Guzman is one of the most exciting well schooled boxers in the game right now, i personally think he'd ud Jmm or even stop him late on, people talk about Joan's supposed "lack of power" but the man can hit hard, he rocked the hell out of Barrios on many occasions and but for Joan's relaxed attitude that night i'm sure he could have stopped Barrios easy, i saw the Katsidis vs Earl fight the other day and he hit Earl with all he had and still couldn't knock him clean out, he's also way too open and will get picked off at will imo, i think it will be Easy for Guzman and when he's done with Katsidis hopefully Pac will stop running for once and fight him.

Cheers for that, great news .
As for Guzman having the best defence other than floyd, thats arguble, I've seen Guzman eat clean punches in a few of his fights, particularly the Barrios fight he got caught a few times which garnered one of the best responses I've ever seen in a ring, he was so pissed off that he got hit that he put on a really mean face and clocked Barrios with a big combo (2nd round I think). I think Guzman is the full package, and I think he'll be able to fight at lightweight no problem, and I think in the next few years he could rise to P4P status, but... Katsidis is also untested and clearly capable of finishing off anyone if he gets the chance, he has tremendous power, and is still learning how to use it, he could be the hardest puncher Guzman has ever faced.

Yup I do . Earl did for a few rounds and that was when he was taking clean shot after clean shot . I dont expect Guzman to have to absorb that many but he has the whiskers to if they do come at him . Ive never even seen teh guy buzzed or fazed by a shot

Yoitsdan - I duno if I agree with you here
Katsidis is also untested and clearly capable of finishing off anyone
He had opportunity after opportunity to finish off Earl . He even tried the uncharacteristic flurries but in the end the corner had to stop it despite his best efforts. He is inexperienced at finishing fighters with abit of class . Guzman is a defensive genius and even if he does get hurt which I doubt I cant see Katsidis following up being able to catch him again . Joan is in total control of everything he does so he'll cover up , do the shoulder roll , let Michael punch himself out and then come right back at him .

He'll be too quick and classy for Katsidis and im almost certain he'll make it look easy too .

Every boxer is only 1 punch away from a loss Kats is only 26 so who knows how much he will improve as his competition does.

I've seen both guys fight quite a bit & I'm going with Katsidis by decision.

This is a great match up though & I gotta give credit to both guys for making the fight!

Guzman is better technically but Katsidis has got some mean talent also. They both got power but @ 135 I give the edge to Katsidis.

Guzman seems to coast @ times where I feel Katsidis is all intensity all the time, this will be the key to victory. Make Guzman fight every second of the fight, don't let him rest or lay back, make it a brawl.

Guzman needs to box but I just don't think he can keep Michael of off him.

It's a big step up for Katsidis no doubt, you are right nobody should sell him short and you have to swim with the big fish at some point in your career. This will be a great fight!
