Default PBF's style a tad better than Oscar's.

Style: Oscar is an orthodox fighter who looks to land a devastating left hook following stiff jabs. He also has developed a solid right cross. He can brawl or box depending on what’s required and has solid late round power (Ike and Vargas). He is capable of backpedaling if the going gets rough and this can cost him, as it did against Trinidad in a fight that he should have won. I doubt, however, that Floyd can back him up.

Floyd is the complete package. He is one of the most talented fighters to come along in some time. He blessed with speed, stamina, power, sharp punching, a solid chin and great defense. His old school moves are so subtle, most observers miss them. Whether he can engage in a brawl still remains to be seen, but that’s not his fault. I also see him as a better defensive fighter slipping punches with deft shoulder rolls and head movement.

Floyd’s superior speed and great counter punching ability should give him the advantage in any furious exchanges, but he needs to be careful of THAT left hook.

    Slight edge to Floyd Mayweather

Why would he engage in a brawl against the bigger man?
Unless he is looking for a second fight.
The last thing Floyd want's to do is get into a war with Oscar.
It would be the most career damaging move ever.
I seriously doubt he will mix it up with Oscar.

I agree that Floyd would run into some problems if he got into a brawl...but the thing is,I dont think that there is a fighter out there who can make him brawl. You have to cut the ring off, watch out for his lead right hand, stay focused, and have great stamina in order to get him to brawl. He is just to quick.I just hope that Oscar doesnt go into the fight relying on landing a big punch and KO'ing Floyd because if he does he will definitely fall behind and its nearly impossible to outpoint Floyd especially when your frustrated and behind in rounds.

How can you, Ted the Bull, say that Mayweather has a slight style advantage? He has way better defense, Can use both hands and throws every punch in the book perfectly. He has more fluid movement, and far better ring generalship. Technically, physically, and mentally he is superior to ODLH. THe only thing is he is alot smaller so I can still see Oscar winning, but Mayweather is better on the outside and better on the inside, but that has to with speed more than style.

I think Oscar's record speaks for itself as far as his style is concerned. He is an orthodox fighter who leads with a jab, uses what has become a solid right cross and has a great left hook that can turn a fight at any time. He is also a very good closer. I think PBF's all-around skills are better, but Oscars Left hand power offsets some of the difference. Maybe "tad" was a poor choice of words. Your points are well taken.

I still say technically, effectively Mayweather's style is far better. He is more accurate, and harder to hit. He doens't leave himself open, and though Oscar has been effective he hasn't been able to beat top competition (Hopkins, Whitaker, Mosley, some might say Trinidad though I say he won that). I think Oscar's amazing power plays across evenly with Floyd's speed because Oscar's power at welterweight and lower was incredible. However if you watch them against Gatti for example MAyweather had a much easier time because he can read an opponent so well, and counter so effectively that an opponent is completely bewildered.

Oscar blew Gatti away. PBF beat at him. Left hand power vs. speed is what it boils down to and I disagrtee that PBF'S style is all that better. Better yes; significantly better, no.
