I bought a book off amazon.com that details about 25 champion boxers training routines.. It's actually pretty interesting how much the routines vary from boxer to boxer.. To say that any routine is better than the other would be kind of wrong because all of these people were genuine champions and none of them trained the exact same.
Although throughout the book their are a lot of constants as well that generally every boxer incorporates into their routine. Obviously those one's aren't to hard to guess, road work, sparring, jumprope, mitts.
The main point is, every person, boxer, body type, brain is different.
I enjoyed this book mostly because it gave me a lot of different idea's I could try and perhaps work into my routine, but not all of them were right for me.
I think the most imporant part of any successful routine is experimenting and seeing exactly what works for you, what you feel comfortable with, and which you feel you're getting the most out of. And then go with that routine....
To simply seek out and follow a Floyd routine or a RJJ routine or a Tyson routine won't give you that little bit of an edge over your opponents because you train with those champions routines or know their little secret.. I don't think their is any secret.
That little edge comes from you and what you put into ANY routine you adopt. Just take that little bit extra time in finding a routine that works the best for you, and commit 100% of yourself to it, and you'll do a LOT better than anyone who is more occupied with looking for that secret training technique that made Floyd a champion....
That being said though, I can dig up that book if anyone is interested in a list of some of the more interesting training techniques and who used them,, to see if anyone may want to incorporate something new into their routine or change it up a little?....
