Cause as shitty as the match up was this was my dose of boxing for the weekend, and it pisses me off when it's over so quickly. Like when austin got ktfo out by klitschko in 2 rounds a few weeks ago it left me wanting more!
he said he was waiting for calzaghe to stop throwing so he could throw the left hook

    but calzaghe didnt stop throwing

his punches were having NO impact tho, arms punches should not even bring up the consideraion of a stoppage
Agreed about early stoppage. As far as the arm punches I think an exception could be made for a prime Erik Morales

that was a BS call man.. you cant expect a guy to throw back when his back is on the rope and the other guy is throw 10 punches in 1 second.. he wansnt hurt and he was able to duck most of it.. by the way.. maybe 5 the most of calzaghe's punches landed, the rest were arm and shoulder punches

You could see the referee signalling with his arms for Manfredo to show something. Didn't actually see the ref warning him tho. Stil suppose its difficult for the ref to notice that the punches are not landing when they are thrown at that speed. End of the day Manfredo was out of his depth big time. He wasn't throwing back and he never looked like getting off the ropes so thats that. I thought it was a bullshit stoppage but if you just lay on the ropes and let your opponent hit you, you are going to get stopped at some point.

I dont think Peter was in danger of getting hurt from those shots, at least let him take a standing eight count or go down. But if I'm honest, I gotta think he saved Manfredo ossible accumulative damage he was gonna take if the fight went into the late rounds...in that half of a round Joe threw about 100 punches...lol. I watched the slo motion replay, and Joe is definately a slapper, who was saying he doesnt slap, lol get your eyes checked. Ive seen those kind of punches in a girl fight. I still like his style of fighting but some of his shots look like girl punches.

    Thats the bottom line.
Looke to me that he was being bitch slapped at a high rate.

Definitely one of the quickest stoppages i've ever seen, especially considering Manfredo didn't even seem hurt. I mean I get the argument that it was a mismatch and the ref must have been thinking that when he made the call. Calzaghe traps guys on the ropes and he throws quick flurries, that's what he does, what point is there to even having the fight if the ref is thinking, this could get ugly, I'll stop it the first time Manfredo is even remotely close to being hurt.

But I don't know, its hard for me to care that much considering it was a horrible mismatch and it wasn't going to last that long anyway. Manfredo looked like a child in there.

Definately a quick stoppage, way to quick. But, like people are saying, Manfredo wasn't doing a thing and he's been boxing long enough to know that if you're lying against the ropes getting splattered with punches, while not punching back, the fight may get stopped.
However, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to learn that the Tournament of Contenders had made an "arrangment" with the ref that the fight would be stopped before they and their cash cow fighter could have their credibility blown complelely out of the water. It's not like they didn't know what was going to happen. Imagine the damage that would be done to the ToC with Manfredo getting brutally KO'd and laying catatonic on the ground for several minutes.
I'm kind of disgusted with both of the promoters right now.
