I cannot believe that I am the only person from saddoboxing.com who thinks Valuev won that fight. He won 4 of the last 5 without a doubt and the first three.
Chagaev was constintley backed up against the ropes and was sucking wind the last half of the fight.

Clobbering Valuev upside the head a few times each round doesn't make you the winner. Most of his shots were glancing and weak.

I didn't want the Russian Giant to break Marciano's record so I am not too upset about this, but I still can't figure out why I am alone in thinking he beat Chagaev yesterday.
I thought it was very close. I watched a German version before knowing the result so was scoring the fight myself. I felt going into the last 3 rounds Valuev was behind but he came back to win 10 and 11 imo and I thought he was about level. Then I had Chagaev winning the 12th so though Chagaev was going to win.

When the scores were announced I thought they sounded about right. It wasn't a one sided fight at all. Chagaev landed the better shots but was on the defensive the whole time and Valuev won some rounds by virtue of being the only fighter trying to fight.

Really not much action at all, some rounds very hard to score and neither fighter had the other remotely in trouble at any time during the fight.

Chagaev deserved the win, but not by much and I was expecting a draw to be honest as I thought no way Valuev loses his title on points if it's a close one.

I got to say though I did really want Valuev to win, so to be honest where a round was very close and could have gone either way, I probably subconsciously sided with Valuev, where as others might have subconsciously sided with Chagaev if they wanted to see the underdog pull it off.

But Chagaev won the fight on the back foot, rarely engaging Valuev and never landing more than one punch at a time. It was a case of stay away...stay away...dart in land a punch....get away....stay away.....dart in land a punch......stay away...and repeat for 12 uneventful rounds.

If anyone has ever played the Elder Scrolls game Oblivion, the fight was very much like fighting an Ogre in that game.....back off...back off..run forward...strike with you sword.....back off......run forward....back off....etc.
